I think some people are confused about what ROBLOX is. We're a game creation platform. That means we're here to provide a spot for people to make games. The people who make games are developers.
However, there isn't some magical barrier between developers and players. Players can be developers, and developers can be players. They aren't two separate groups, they're a single unit within a single community.
ROBLOX's focus is on creating game development tools, which everybody can use to make games for each other. The better tools we create, the more developers have to work with, and the better games we can all play. Focusing on developers is equal to focusing on players, because without ever expanding development tools we wouldn't have anything to play, and without anything to play, there wouldn't be anybody here playing. We aren't focused on a small group of people, we're focused on the entire ROBLOX ecosystem. |

Oh like?
- P2P games - Gamepasses - V.I.P Servers - In-game shops/transactions - Price Floor
Whilst screwing over the clothing makers. You totally don't care about one specific group. |

The dev forum is a forum that anybody can apply to join, and if you choose to create something really cool, you've got a pretty good chance at getting in. There isn't anything stopping you from working to gain access to that forum, nor is there anything stopping people from posting here if they wish. It's not a secret exclusive club, it's a serious forum for people to post about generally serious game creation topics, and access is only restricted to keep the discussion on track.
- P2P games - Gamepasses - V.I.P Servers - In-game shops/transactions - Price Floor
How do any of the above prevent the creation of development tools that allow the creation of games?
P2P games are quite common in the gaming industry. Very common actually. They're basically the normal expected type of game. Gamepasses and in-game shops act as an equivalent to DLC for other types of games. Once again, a very common game industry tool. VIP servers are there to make it very easy to play with your friends in a private server. I don't see the issue with them at all.
The price floor has nothing to do with game creation at all, and is more of a virtual economy decision we've made. The last time we talked about the price floor on the blog, we outlined how many top clothing creators were seeing 3X more profit after the price floor than before. So for many clothing creators, the price floor was actually quite profitable. |

But some clothing makers were against the price floor. The only ones who supported it were the people swimming in money

"Oh its not listening to the community? mmm mmm Your main focus is on developers? not the community?"
As I outlined above, the players and the developers are, in our minds, part of the same community. When we provide a good set of development tools, developers can easily create games, and we can all play and enjoy those games. It is a cycle that always comes back to more games for us all to play.
It is exclusive in that we control entry, however it isn't exclusive in that there isn't a set requirement. It isn't exclusive to people who have popular games. There are folks in the dev forum who just make models, folks who just make scripts, folks who only build cars and nothing else. It's quite a diverse group, and anybody can work their way in, even without attaining mass success.
And to be quite honest, it isn't like they are there plotting secret dev things. Currently, one of the top posts is them trying to figure out why 0.3 == ( 0.1 + 0.2 ) is false. So it's not all that exciting.

Gorden, You just tried to prove my statement wronge. Yet all you talked about was. DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS... Maybe some players dont want to become devs. maybe they just want to play games for fun. This is most of the comunity that want a egghunt, not a devhunt but it still happens. Again, not listening to the community |

yeah its super easy to make a game that will be partially recognized
just learn a whole new goddamn language that wont be used anywhere else or spend hundreds of hours attempting to imitate real life with cubes
