| I feel like im not catching on with scripting. I've been practicing at least 4 hours a day and can only turn lights of and on with a script and spawn a new brick, just the really really basic scripts. Is this really the normal learning time for teaching gmy self for 3 to 4 days? Or does it really take this long. How long did it take you guys to get out of the really low basics? |

You need to push yourself a little. Step out of your comfort zone. No pain no gain, right? Don't be afraid to learn new things, even if a concept seems intimidating.
Here is a list of various things to learn, by no means complete. http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutorials#Scripting
When I was 8, I was trying to learn JustBASIC. I didn't learn loops and whatever else there were, and I didn't understand variables, just because the concepts were intimidating. If I kept going, I would have been a lot better at programming by the time I reached Roblox. |

| It took me a while to get it, I am self-taught. Being able to spawn and turn lights on and off tells that you understand how to get the hierarchy of an object and how to change a property of an object. You are doing great for 3-4 days. Good luck! |

When I was six, I got this really old Windows XP computer. At the time I thought it was amazing, and I learned Batch. It's pretty much English, and not an actual scripting language, but it helps you grasp the basic concepts of programming. It has variables, loops, etc. When I was eight, I got Minecraft. I tried the ComputerCraft mod, but it was too foreign to me. When I was ten, I started using SciTE to write basic Lua, then changed to Love2D and Notepad++ to write games in Lua. I eventually started making stuff on Roblox, too. It's pretty fun; don't do stuff you don't want to do, make stuff you think would be fun or cool. Push yourself, but not too hard or you'll break. |

Took me about a month to learn basic coding, then you just gain more knowledge as you go. I learned by reading others code.
