no not that, i don't save them on my HDD i'm a video and game developer so i have tons of sound effects and textures and video clips that i am too lazy to delete over time and it slows down my computer to the point that it's unusable despite that it has very fast components |

That's what you get for using Windows. Windows has crappy ways of dealing with files, so you have to defragment your hard drive constantly or else it gets really slow. |

| Why not just organize all of the different categories of content into various folders folder and then upload the files to an online server? |

"Why not just organize all of the different categories of content into various folders folder and then upload the files to an online server?" unless the online server has more than 50GB of free storage, i can't do that i've already transferred them to another HDD, i'm just scared that i've forgotten something |

Windows has a lot more slowdown problems. Even if you have a software to defrag for you, you'll still end up with insanely slow speeds after some time of use.
Hence OP. |

so that's why my computer is incredibly slow? i hope windows 7 doesn't have auto-defrag, because i'm downgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 7 since i noticed that i dont even use anything that windows 8 has that windows 7 doesnt |

You can try defragging it. Sometimes just having a full hard drive can slow down your computer because it makes it take longer to find files.
Either way, formatting your hard drive should yield significant improvements. |

it's 0% fragmented i know that it's not a problem with my hardware at all, since my hard drive is 7200RPM and my CPU speed is very fast + im not overheating + my overall other specs are pretty high it is a bunch of files and stubborn malware that no virus software can even remove, since every time i boot up avast warns me of svchost.exe attempting to install malware onto my pc like 30 times
either way, i've always wanted to make a fresh reinstall, since i've been stuck with this slow hard drive for way too long |
