4E sucks seriously they made so many mistakes. Anyone that knows anything about D&D used 3.5 until 5E came out, far better than 4E.
So lame. |

Well, I'd accept that, aside for two things:
1) You list no reasons why 3.5 or 5e are better than 4e, you just state it as a fact 2) You're Soardlo, therefore, you're brain-dead. |

I have only ever heard bad things about 4e but I have never played it myself. What do you see in it?
3.5 is a great place to start but I tend to like the more open ended D&D styles like the Fate System. |

Knowing how much of an idiot you are I'll just let you research it yourself and find out rather than waste my time and effort with you so here's some informative links.
Now goodbye, I'm actually in the middle of setting up a 5E campaign, Tyranny of Dragons. You should look into it, it's rather fun. |

@Slingshot: 4e has quite a number of interesting things that make it better than other editions.
For instance, in your Monster Manual, how many Orcs are there? The 4e MM has about 5 or 6 different Orcs, and that's not counting the ridiculously simplistic monster customization (From Templates to simple rules to level things up or down, etc.)
Additionally, character stats are a plus side as well. Look at any class. I'll pick Warlord as my example (Oh, forgot to mention, 4e has other classes that have similar but vastly different functions to Clerics, so that way you could be a military general instead of a religious leader and still be able to heal your party with an inspiring word of courage and valour). Warlords by the PHB1 alone have hundreds of powers, have the ability to get dozens of feats, have four paragon paths and have two epic destinies to choose from, which is a LOT of room for customization. However, if that's too complex, then it also lists two premade builds that you could try to work with, and they describe the kind of power you should try to get (i.e. find powers that make use of your high CHA mod)
If you're mad that the Great Wheel is no longer the default cosmology, it's just no longer the default cosmology for gaming conventions, the default cosmology for you is still the Great Wheel if you'd like.
If you're mad that FR isn't the default setting... Well, I actually think that there's some weight behind that argument; Who in their right mind would pick a new world over a well-established, rich world that's home to Drizzt Do'Urden? However, they created a cool new world which is limited to really only a portion of the world and can be placed anywhere you want, and it doesn't have any history, making it ideal for newbies to D&D.
The only major complaint that people seem to consistently have against 4e that I haven't already covered is "There's no roleplaying, it's all rollplaying" (Haha, I made a pun). However, I honestly just think it's the table that they play with; my campaign set in the town of Winterpond that actually has a session in about two hours is about to have a two-to-four hour session of celebrations and festivities without a single diceroll, unless they get bored and decide to go hunting for bandits, and a few weeks ago Hwen's Heroics Against Evil campaign had an entire session of just PC interactions and conversing with NPCs.
So Slingshot, what things did you hear about 4e that aren't so good? |

Duck, 4e is amazing. I can easily make stats for thousands of Dragon NPCs using 4 books and no homebrew material. Should I so desire, each and every undead in the service to the crazed necromancer will have slightly different strengths and weaknesses, even if they're all the same type of undead (i.e. all skeletons).
Or, from a player perspective, there's an article in Dragon magazine with gnolls as a PC race, the requirement for a cleric has been removed and replaced by the recommendation for a Cleric, Bard, Warlord, Shaman or the equivalent-ish thing from the Psionic power source.
Did I mention that there's a full 30 levels of play for all classes without homebrew material required? And each new level comes with brand new awesomeness (New feats, powers, paragon paths, epic destinies, etc.)?
4e gets far more hate than it deserves. |
