After the microphone on my old headphones broke today, I went to return them and get a new pair. I got to the store and I saw the Turtle Beach z22 I was like, "ill tke 1 of thse plz" in a socially awkward voice, the lady at the counter gave me the headphones and I skipped back home.
So I get home I unbox these babys and I am, "wow coolz" I plug them in and launch skype, I am all excited to try these headphones and then....I get in a call in the microphone doesn't work, I start like running around in circles with my head cut freaking out, so I rage quit and close skype.
I open up, "manage audio device" and check to make sure they are working. I check the speakers, they are working. I check the microphone its not even showing up, so again I am freaking out wondering why this isn't showing up. THEN I COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT MUST BE MY AUDIO DRIVERS!
so I open up "device manager" and go to update my realtek audio BUT INSTEAD I MISCLICK AND UNINSTALL IT, so now I am like scrd, "omfg i derped up this cumpter" after a thrifty minutes of browsing the web for how to get them back, I post a forum in the video game section of the Roblox forums, I get a reply in like five minutes that says, "just go to the realtek site lol".
I go onto the site find the driver and install it, I run the wizard get it all setup I finally feel like my headphones are going to work so once again I am pumped. I skype to try and do a test call, the MICROPHONE STILL DOESN'T WORK!So I did a quick google search on the name brand of the headphones(turtle beach z22) and it turns out they don't work with windows 8.
;( waste of like three hours
TL:DR Bought new headphones because old ones broke, New ones didn't work, Unstailled realtek audio trying to get them to work, Spent a long time trying to figure out how to get it realtek back, got realtek back, headphones still didn't work, turns out headphones don't work with windows 8. I cry. |

in skype options you have to select the mic you use, by default it will not use your head set

| Yea, I want to lose all the games I have on my computer already and spend time reinstailing them all. There isn't anything wrong with windows 8 its just different, the issue is turtle beach and there bad headphones. Shame on you Webspace for your horrible idea, go back to weebing. |

I'm not the one who bought headphones that don't work.
It's not a horrible idea, it's more or less the only way you would get your headphones to work instead of going to the store.

| Instead of buying a headset, do what I did and spend $100 and buy a blue yeti microphone. |

Um I don't want a microphone I want a headset, microphones scare me.
Might get a razor headset because they are known for good stuff. |

| Go into your windows file (c drive most likely), select servicing, go to Editions, and there are the base files for all of your windows systems (Mine has all the verisons of win 7, yours should have them for win 8. Click on the one you own, and try to find the seciton where you audio drivers are hard-coded or linked in. Idk the rest from there, good luck! |

| Manager's capabilities consists of turning things on, switching things, and modifying common propertires. The hardcoded or linked in code is more complex. |
