And that game that Minecraft has inferior graphics to is DOOM. :P That's bad. REALLY bad. I thought games were supposed to be improving graphically and gameplay-wise. :P |

GUYS LOOK
I FOUND A TROLL.
What a shame no-one cares about Minecraft here.
Unless some of the new people do.
Ohwell. |

Actually, I'm not a troll. I'm serious. Minecraft has less-eye appealing graphics than DOOM does. |

You're either a troll or an idiot.
The graphics of minecraft are a artistic style. Same as WoW graphics.
They're not trying to look realistic. It's it's own unique (Ignore the clones pls) style.

"Texture packs exist." Texture packs do NOT count. Only the textures in vanilla Minecraft do. |

| If no one cares about Minecraft, then why are you defending it? Minecraft's graphics is 8-bit, where as DOOM is 16 and 32 bit. |

they still exist for the express purpose of making the game look better for players
and honestly, I'd say minecraft looks better than doom to me |

I object to both cases.

| I am not being a troll or an idiot. You are. DOOM looks way better than Minecraft. And as I've said before, only vanilla Minecraft counts, no graphical enhancements mode to ANY extent. |

It looks graphically superior, by standard.
However, Rome total war 2 has better graphics than Warcraft 3.
That doesn't mean Warcraft 3's art style is bad for being cartoony.
Just look at Borderlands. It's got cartoon-style graphics. That's what makes in unique to most shooters. |

| You're not getting the point. Minecraft's graphics, intentional or not, are pixelated way more than DOOM's. And heck, Serious Sam 2 has better graphics than Minecraft, EVERY game except for games on the Atari look better than Minecraft. |

the level of details is appropriate for the geometrically simple objects in Minecraft.
this is why a lot of super high defenition (256x+) imo looks ugly' its like trying to make a Crysis out of cubic meter blocks. |

I am getting the point. They're pixelated way more than Doom's, because they're supposed to be. That's the art style of the game, plus it also means virtually anyone who doesn't have say, a potato for a computer, can run it, which is actually a clever move on the part of Mojang.
Yes, they are more pixelated, and of a lower resoultion. That doesn't they don't appeal to people due to their style. |

*Facepalm* For the most part, DOOM had blocky level designs due to the engine restrictions. Sure, there were triangles, and twisting hallways, but a majority of the levels in DOOM are blocky. |

| Also, I can't run Minecraft, yet I can run Half Life 2 on Ultra, Portal on Ultra, Portal 2 on High, Serious Sam HD on High, and I can even run Serious Sam 3 BFE on Low settings. Minecraft is poorly optimized for lower-ranking machines. |

Minecraft has its charm even with simple pixelated graphics. Just like Borderlands and TF2 have cartoony graphics, but no one calls those bad graphics.
I suspect OP just has a raging hateb*ner for Minecraft and is trying to bash on it. With one of the silliest reasons I've seen in a while. Seriously, the game has far more things to bash on it about than the graphics. |

| A better move for Mojang would be for them to move away from Java. It runs horribly on my system. |

| I agree, but I'm not hating on Minecraft, I actually enjoy it, a lot. I just find it funny how a game from 2009 has lower-res textures than a game from '94. That's all I'm saying. However, the gameplay in Minecraft gets a little bit repetitive after awhile. |

| Well...I have it for the 360. It's actually quite fun. And I can run Minecraft just fine on the PC with Optifine and turn everything off. And as my point is: it's horribly unoptimized. I can run games that are graphically and physically superior (by physically, I mean physics.) I can get between 40-150 frames a second on Serious Sam HD, but I only get 25-30 frames on Minecraft. |

Because it's Java.
But not running it in Java would require completely recoding the entire game to run on another format, afaik. |
