[1] Purpose
The guidelines for the Order consist of the essential rules that all members must follow, and additional formalities that should be demonstrated at Apothian events. Failure to follow the rules will result in punishment, ranging from a warning to an exilation depending on the seriousness of the offense. Failure to follow formalities will not be punished, but is looked down upon.
[2] Rules of the Order
- All members of the Order must be respectful of all people.
- All members of the Order must be active within the Order.
- All members of the Order must act in such a way as to promote the Decree.
- All members of the Order must use proper grammar, and fix errors.
- All members of the Order must wear appropriate attire to all Apothian events.
- All members of the Order must obey commands from the leadership.
- All members of the Order must properly represent the Order and Decree.
- All members of the Order must regularly practice combat, building, or scripting.
- All members of the Order must be responsible and fulfill their duties.
- All members of the Order must, when in positions of leadership, lead respectfully, strictly, appropriately, and for the benefit of the Order and it's members.
[3] Formalities
- When greeting those of higher rank, one should address them as "Sir" or "Ma'am", followed by a salute. If the higher rank requests to not be addressed in this manner, do as they ask. (Example : Hello, ma'am. Hello, but please refrain from using ma'am.)
- If the higher rank has said nothing against it, whenever one is speaking to them, the last word one should say is "Sir" or "Ma'am" (Example : Permission to speak, sir?)
- When greeting those of equal rank, one should use "comrade", "friend" or any other word meaning fellowship, followed by a salute. (Example : Hello, friend. Greetings, comrade.)
- Greetings should be the first thing one says before anything else. To do otherwise is disrespectful.
- When saying goodbye, one should say "Farewell", "Goodbye", etc. but the very last thing that should be said is "Duceres exemplo". This is to serve as a constant reminder and to signify that there is nothing more to be said. One should salute before leaving. (Example : Farewell, sir. Duceres exemplo.)
- When given an order, one should first say "Yes, sir/ma'am." before executing the order. The exception to this is matters of urgency, when orders must be followed without delay.
- Under formal circumstances, one should not randomly jump or run around.
- In conversation, one should be facing those who one is addressing.
- When giving an order, it should end or begin with "please", with the exception of if the matter is urgent. (Example : Go over by the gate, please.)
- One should never have ones weapon drawn in conversation, unless circumstances demand it.
- When a higher rank speaks, all attention should be given to the speaker. All other conversations should cease immediately.
- In general, be on ones best behavior. Avoid being foolish, and scold those who are being foolish.
