It's basically a way of making CYOA games. It's sort of like ren'py, but for completely/mostly textual stories. And I was thinking that if I can get a good handle on this thing, we could collaborate on a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story. Sound good?
No promises that I'll actually stick with learning this though, even though it is pretty simple... |

@Pickachu
Yeah I know we'd have to decide a bunch of variables first (plot, whether or not to include items or skills, setting, etc.) but this looks like pretty easy stuff. I can understand your misgivings. |

I like to use Inkle Writer. It's ridiculously simple, and I love it.

Thank you for drawing my attention to this tool! However, it seems to be lacking in certain functions. I think ChoiceScript strikes a pretty good balance between features and simplicity. |

I use Quest. Even though it's incredibly outdated, it's still great. |

Are choose-your-own-adventures things like Fighting Fantasy, or something else?
I have no idea what ren'py is, so that analogy does nothing for me. |

There's a ICT Club in my school that I go to and we use Scratch. |

So, anyone have any ideas on what it should be about? I was thinking "dreampunk" as a genre to build off of.
Here is a concise definition of dreampunk, courtesy of Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_derivatives#Dreampunk
Anyway, don't worry so much if you've never written it before. Hardly anyone writes it, though I think the genre is interesting. |

@Insurgencies
I'm not sure. We'd have to decide other basic details, first. I was just giving a sort of tentative jumping-off point for plot and other things. |

Here's another interesting genre we could take a look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dying_Earth_%28subgenre%29
It's sort of like post-apocalyptic fiction, only it deals more with the entropic exhaustion of earth as opposed to a singular catastrophe. |
