Why do we value humans who are physically fit over mentally fit? Humans are pretty pathetic when it comes to strength. Humans are the weakest of the great apes, and no human is stronger than a bear.
What makes us humans is our minds, we're the only species who is intelligent enough to understand the universe.
Yet... we value our crappy physical abilities over our exceptional mental capabilities.
Honestly, I think games that require using your mind should be much more popular than sports. |

| Maybe one day they will be. They're getting closer and closer to being equally popular. |

| Eh, I don't think so. I see no evidence of mental sports becoming very popular at all. The closest thing we have is game shows, but those are a lot of the times based on luck and not true strategy. Plus, those are nowhere near as popular as things like football. |

| Why do you think people play this game on their phones, Trivia Crack, or whatever it is? There seems more appreciate for video games, including ones that exercise your mental abilities, then there is of sports. I think we should promote sports more, being fit and healthy is important. We have to balance mental and physical fitness, instead of focus only one. |

Watch the League of Legends 2014 world championship, that's pretty popular right? League may not be the best eSport, but it certainly is popular and competitive.

I think being healthy and fit is important yes. But I always love a game of chess when it can come by.

| Plus normal sports have been around for much longer. eSports only really started to become a thing a couple of years ago. |

But those are video game tournaments I think OP is referring to purely mental activities

"What exactly does "mechanical" mean...?"
you need to be able to understand how the game works, what calls to make, what champions do and counter etc, you need to know the mechanics of the game
plus it has to do a lot with reflexes and hitting the right buttons in the right order, which is also physical |

@Vedat
Well, I guess that's true. A lot of people enjoy mental activities these days. But my point still stands that nobody's impressed by them.
We're all incredibly impressed if someone can kick a football into a goal or run a handegg passed a line, but there's no equivalent thing to this when it comes to the mind.
Humans just... aren't impressed by their own minds. |

@Zach
That's exactly the point. Why is watching people do physical activities more entertaining than mental activities, when the mind is the most complex, unique, and important thing about humans?

Are you including eSports, or is eSports too physical/mechanical to count?
@ZachHelms
Yeah, I think it's just more showoff and flashy then a mind game. |

| Humans are also smart enough to realize that superiority in strength over other humans is more important than other animals. |
