Gladiators, armed slaves and fugitives who fought for the entertainment of crowds in the age of the Roman Republic and Empire. Provided with weapons, partners, and scenarios, some gladiators had the legend of divine blood. Often showered with denarii, women, and wine.
Patrons would enlist their toughest gladiators in competition for fame, glory, and wealth.
Now, centuries later, after the decline of the gladiators, the art has been revived and is popular among the underworld. Crime lords pick and train their strongest thugs and pit them against others. Except, in the vast Sahara desert. Gladiators are blindfolded and then taken to a certain coordinate destination where they'll be sent underground and fight others. Everything is allowed except the use of guns, drugs, etcetera.
The gladiators are equipped with armor created by fine blacksmiths and weapons the same. Wagers are placed on these gladiators and the killed are dropped by a grate into a pit of sand where bull ants then consume their flesh and their bones are crushed.
Those who survive and earn the title of Champion after so many kills, they are sent to a luxury room underground where they remain are cherished with gifts. An entire underground city has been constructed under the heavy sands of the Sahara.
Now, as a gladiator- you must fight to survive.
Character Sheet: Name: Age: Gender: (Can be female. :O) Physique: (No being Hulk.) Daily routine: Biography: Hair Color: Eye Color: Hair Style: Any significant marks: Ethnicity: Other:
You can also be a patron of a gladiator, and if not having a living gladiator, you will be provided with a NPC gladiator. Randomized by me.
Patron Sheet: Name: Age: Gender: Appearance: Trail of Crime: Biography: Ethnicity: Other:
Combat System: Most of your fights will be against NPCs, if not, then you'll be fighting players. Nonetheless, I'll be using a dice system to evaluate your damage, etcetera.
Rules: 1. No godmodding. 2. No metagaming. 3. No powerplaying. 4. Respect fellow roleplayers. 5. Do not start until an admin or me accepts you. 6. Fill out your character's sheet appropriately. 7. You can only have one living character at a time. 8. Respect admins and me.
Patron Rules: 1. Keep your gladiators fed. 2. Keep your gladiators hydrated. 3. Keep your gladiators healthy. 4. Keep your gladiators happy.
Assassinations will happen and can be sent from patron to patron. I will evaluate the success by dice rolls. Sabotages can happen. Dice rolls will determine the outcome. Gladiators can retaliate, though, the guards may kill you with their rifles before you can leave the pit. Once an opposing gladiator is at a critical state, the 'emperor'/'empress' will decide using the old-fashioned thumb-turn. If patrons lose all their money, the gladiator will be set free. (This mostly applies to patrons.)

It's set in a modernized world but the gladiators will use oldschool weapons reimbursed with newer metals/alloys. Steel is among one of the alloys that'd be used with the weapons. Also more modern things like batons (maybe), brass knuckles, baseball bats, etcetera.

| Gladiators didn't ALWAYS kill each other because soon, all the gladiators would be dead and there would be no entertainment. |

I understand. The choice was up to the editor, not the gladiator most of the time.
