| I think it's pretty ridiculous. A person would only have that kind of privacy setting if they had something to hide, and the people who make those things are messed up in the head too. A parent has the right to be able to easily view their kids phone any time they want until they're legally an adult. |

| No matter what age you are, privacy should always be respected, in my opinion. |

A fingerprint lock would be pointless for me as I eat my fingernail skin and thumb skin. |

And parents who believe in that are responsible for when their kid plans something violent and ends up killing someone, or ends up taking their own life because the kid was getting bullied severely and the parents never knew. Do you really think it's wise then? |

If someone feels obligated to check your belongings then they have absolutely NO trust in you.
It's simply bad parenting. |

| But if you're suspicious that there could be something bad going on and have cues to back up your belief then a search is most certainly warranted. |

| @dark I tell my parents when bullying gets out of hand, plus, all conversations are monitored by the NSA. Unless you live in some other country. |

It's not always because they don't trust you, it's because other people shouldn't be trusted. Have you seen people on most social media sites? Seen any articles about kids being abducted or something because they gave a stranger their info? School shooting articles? Stories on the news about how some kid thought life was so bad that they needed to end it because of some jerk on Twitter? |

| Like I said in my reply following the first one, unless you have solid reason for your assumption, simply don't poke your nose in their business. |

The NSA must not have a very good grip on the internet then, because usually they don't intervene or are too late. The NSA is for national security anyways.

| @uncle I don't watch TV at all anymore. The NSA is monitoring everything with words they need to watch for, such as attack. |

A kid could lie about it quite easily or act like nothing's wrong or going on. So no, if a parent wants to check and see what's up they deserve that right. They gave birth to us. And it's better to be safe than sorry. |

But there are more ways to tell other than just the kid flat-out hinting towards it.
here are a few possible signs:
strange behaviors and/or habits isolation from others CONSTANT use of the phone |

| Well, privacy is something everyone has a right to have. But then again, its true about all the stuff you said. But i will have to go with its not pointless idea, fingerprints some phones can have multiple fingerprints which you can delete, so if you want other people to see your phone they can. But anyways, If a kid was being bullied, its not as less predictable as you might think it to be. A kid would change his behavior, e.g ignoring his parents, all other strange behavior your kid acts like, then you have a right and as pie rightly said, you will have evidence to back up why to look at your kids phone. |

They don't even have to have any of those signs for something to be going on. There are plenty of "good kids" that have snapped and went nuts, and when their social media crap was looked through they hinted at violent actions.
ROBLOX CORPORATION, OF ALL COMPANIES even caught a kid saying he was gonna bring weaponry to school and that he wanted to "kill them when they're young" in his messages to someone. There's an online news article about it. They alerted the school district and his parents.
I don't have the link atm, but I think I'll be able to find it. I PM'ed the link to a friend. |

| Yes but everyone deserves privacy, so your basicly saying that all parents should look at what were doing, thats just violating kids privacy. "but what if they go mental" they wont go mental they will be depressed. that kid may of flipped but he was angry. Not sad. This is the 21st centuray for gods sakes, we have all these people which cn help kids if there depressed, mad. But they have to show a sign of something then the parent makes a move. |

| I live in a laid back household where we have an understanding of trust with our privacy, so I wouldn't know much about "privacy policies" or whatever. |
