the laptops im considering so far is;
alienware 15 w/ gtx 970m
sager w/ 970m (cost the same as the alienware cuz for the sager u need to add a OS for it which is like 80 more dollars and for the alienware i have discount for 75 which makes it about = )
or the msi ge62 w/ gtx 965m @1,300
i feel like msi just became the new name brand lol.. |

| A lot of big gamers use them, mostly because Razer partnered with them of course. Just assuming they're good. |

don't listen to all these fools with their "alienware laptop are the best" crap.
get the ASUS GL551 it's about $1,069 CAD. In the US it should be slightly lower and idk about the rest of the world pricing on this laptop.
it has a dedicated GTX 860M and it's upgradeable (not to the same extent of a desktop)
..but still.
you can upgrade the RAM, storage (SSD and HDD) and 2 other things and I'm forgetting. |

but if you're winning to spend $100 more than your anticipated budget, you can step up to ASUS ROG G751.
it has a better GPU in it
but the 860M is still more than enough for modern gaming. |

@dan yea i know alienware isnt the best but their prices isnt that bad compared to msi
alienware 15 w/ 970m = 1390 w/ discount code
a nice thin laptop from msi w/ 970m is 2000+
sager laptop w/ 970m = 1308
i mean i could get a 860m but most laptops as of now with a 860m is priced 1000+
rather spend a little bit more and get a 'up-to-date' gpu llol |

"I hear that msi makes really good gaming laptops that dont sacrifice size for power"
yes i hear that too but to me they are overpriced
an alienware with same specs is cheaper than msi
+ msi laptops such as gt dominator look so ugly; to me atleast, they just look poorly designed
atleast an alienware looks somewhat decent compared to gt dominator
msi gt dominator w/ 970m = 1500
alienware 15 w/ 970m = 1390
the gt dominators are their cheapest laptops with 970m's
i mean their thin laptops actually look good tho |

'Gaming laptops suck. Get a desktop. Cheaper and upgradeable."
you're an idiot. if you look into who gaming laptops are for you get your answer, but obviously you don't see that.
'I had a laptop once, and it was one of the biggest disappointments. Then I got a desktop pc. I felt very happy. It is a good pc.'
depends on the company, and how much you paid for, you probably got ripped off. |

Gaming laptops >made for gaming >OP wants a gaming laptop, not a desktop
Desktops >multi-purpose computers >usually used for family computers >not specifically made for gaming |

| Meh. I just like the features of a desktop better than a laptop. Most laptops have embedded graphics cards, so you have to replace the whole motherboard to just get better graphics. So once the next next-gen game comes out and it requires better graphics than your laptop can handle, you wont get to play that game. Whereas with a PC, you can buy a graphics card, put it into your PC, and away you go. (That was explained very simply) |

Hello.
I am a graphics artist and I also use roblox. Yes, I would absolutely recommend the alienware 15(970m) even though I have never had an alienware, But I am soon going to get the alienware 17(970m).
I have been researching what laptop I is best for me in graphics designing and also gaming. If you are playing games with graphics such as roblox, then the 970m is perfect for you, since it has a lower power consumption then the 980m, and lower power consumption means longer battery life and reduced temperature. But if you also want to play heavy graphic games then the 970m will run pretty smoothly and decently, according to my research. You can watch popular games on ultra on the 970m and it's pretty powerful. And plus roblox does not have to extreme graphics these games have, so you can just imagine how many fps you can have at roblox's max settings.
Now if you already chose what type of graphics card you want. Then why choose the alienware 15? Well alienware is owned by dell and again I have been looking at a bunch of reviews on dell and the company actually has very good costumer service with a really good reputation. The alienware has a good build quality with a partly carbon fiber build to it. The alienwares have a beautiful design to it full with the luxuries in a gaming laptop. Plus the big part of it is that the price is really good compared to most other laptops. I will check on this post soon. |
