The Americans do it superbly well, where it is an offence to wear military uniform without being part of the military. They make it illegal whereby if you have never been in the military, and you are merely impersonating a member of the Armed Forces, you can be arrested or fined.
Her Majesties Armed Forces are now taking this into the same effect:
Anyone impersonating a member of the Armed Forces, anyone using our uniform for means other than to convey themselves part of the Armed Forces and anyone who has been dishonourably discharged, CANNOT wear any of the uniforms (Stolen, copied or otherwise). It shall be the discretion of the Royal Military Police as to prosecution (Anyone in uniform to try out for the Armed Forces is acceptable only during training).
I warn everyone, no matter of position you hold within society, that it is a serious breach of public trust and the trust of the Armed Forces, if you do impersonate yourself as a member of the Armed Forces. |
