We have started a band called The BigOTs and we need musicians!
It doesn't matter what instrument you play as long as you can play it. It's just a collective of OT's musicians who randomly make songs together now and then. Orchestrating the creation of a song over the internet is rather difficult so it's very improvised. See here for the first song we've made:
https://soundc loud.c om/typocrite/first-jam
If you are interested, join the group! And post what instrument you would like to play. |

@mastodon I'm doing all of the mixing, mastering, post-production stuff. I haven't decided upon a formula for making a song yet but it seems to me that the best method would be:
Someone creates a track. Someone else who plays a different instrument records something to go along with that. And so on until a song is fully fleshed out.
In the example song provided above, the bass came first and the drums after that were just me playing along. Even more layers could be added on top of that.
And vocals are possible too. |

@burn At first it's just the ride cymbal but then I start doing 16th notes on the hi-hat as well as snare hits. I was using brushes |

The quality was pretty bad and my headphones are kinda low too , it sounds like a cool concept but i don't really have a mic that could cover my drum kit very well , i tried recording once and the only thing that recorded properly was the floor tom and bass drum

@burn The reason the quality is bad is partly because of soundcloud and because of the quality of the original recording. Try it in MP3 form and see if you can tell a difference:

You don't need drum mics, really. If one is a good enough producer, they can separate the different frequencies in the audio and make a single recording of drums sound pretty alright. I'm not that skilled though. |

@mahantakah
If you've got a midi keyboard that's great! You can hook it right up to your computer and not have to worry about white noise or anything. |

@meldo
Yeah, the only noise you would encounter is feedback from the amp. But there's pedals out there that work as noise filters.

@mahantakah That's good, I think learning music theory early on really helped me |

"slight white-noise (i think i need to fix the ground on my guitar)" Like a hum when you're using some gain? Or do you have singlecoil pickups? |

Also, a good noise suppressor/hum reducer is an ISP decimator.
