tl;dr If you have any questions on how to get Roblox to run on Linux or how to use Linux in general, post here.
Linux (or GNU/Linux hurr durr) is an open-source operating system that anyone can modify, use, or monetize.
Recently, Linux has become a very big deal for software developers and companies, and has caught the attention of the general public with the use of Android and other operating systems and programs.
So why does this matter for ROBLOX?
ROBLOX, like Linux, has been getting a lot of attention from the general public as of late. In just over a year ROBLOX has branched out to iOS, Android, and Mac OSX. Each has its own compatibility issues and bugs, but is fundamentally the same in the sense that it is still the same application.
For those of you Linux users out there, (which is probably, like, 12 of you) there's a way to run ROBLOX Player and Studio on your system without having to go through a horrible dual boot process or just switch to another game/modeling application to mess around in.
Wine is a program on Linux that allows for a user to run .exe applications. Simple, right? Well, yeah, actually.
1. To install Wine simply open up the terminal and type "sudo apt-get install wine" or "pacman install wine" or "yum install wine" (it depends on your system. if you don't know how to install a program from the terminal at this point you'd better read up on a lot.) Once Wine is installed, you're done. If you want to tinker with Wine's settings a bit, feel free to go ahead and do that.
2. Now, you need to download Roblox Studio. http://setup.roblox.com/RobloxStudioLauncherBeta.exe (I can't post an off-site link to Roblox Player but just Google "roblox player download link" or something like that and you should find the legitimate application.)
3. Once you've downloaded one/both of them, right-click on it, and click "Open with...", and then click "Wine Windows Program Loader"
4. And there you go! Roblox Studio is installing on your Linux OS.
I have heard that the program dev team is almost 95% done with a port for Linux, but for now, this solution works well. I, personally, use Fedora 21 Workstation. If one of these steps didn't work for you, post your problem here.
If anyone has questions about Linux in general, feel free to post your question here as well. |

Thank you. I don't use pacman (obviously). I really just posted this in a rush and hoped it would go unnoticed. I'll probably renew the post later to fix any more errors I made.
Again, sorry. |

| Also, there is much better workaround on this. Search " roblox-linux-wrapper " |

| @Qaynar That's cool. I "obtained" a copy of Windows 8.1 and have been using that for a while, but I got tired of the bloat and wanted to experiment a little. You should try out a Linux distro. Try Ubuntu or Linux Mint. |

@Moziderp
I've looked at that, but it is a tad more unstable than this method. While the wrapper works great (I actually used it before trying this method out), there are some problems. With the method used here, I personally haven't experienced any. But it's my own opinion, and I definitely will have to make a new thread in a more appropriate place mentioning the wrapper and the pacman error as well.
Thank you again. |

I was going to work with Arch, but decided to try out Fedora 21 since I heard some good things about it.
Personally I'm not ready to start completely from scratch with Arch, and like to build from a framework. When I get more used to using Linux and learning more about the basics, I definitely will be switching to it. |

Yeah - because of compatibility issues. That's why Linux is more considered to be a "workstation OS."
However some mainstream games can work fine with Linux like Team Fortress 2 or CS:GO from what I've heard. ROBLOX isn't considered to be too graphically intensive so there isn't much of an issue there. Especially since the game itself is pretty flexible. |

Like, typing by putting capital letters at the beginning of some words? Grammar? Lol. I don't know what you mean. |

@mozi
I dunno. I like to do it sometimes when I like to feel proper. Most of the time I don't bother with it though. |
