Remember when I was posting about "deviated septum" before? Mainly as my signature? Well, today it was confirmed that I actually have one. Thank god I've got that out of the problem. Now I have to a get a few tests done, because I've been having sleep apnea, and the deviated septum might be causing it, but I'm not sure. And they numbed my throat and nose, and it was really hard to swallow my spit, and they have to put a lit in my nose, and it felt REALLY REALLY weird.
So, how was your day, OT?

And to clarify, a deviated septum is a condition where the cartilage in your nose is either misshaped, moved off to one side, or not fully constructed. I have the second case, which happened as a young child, never thinking it would be a problem.

"why is it a problem"
Good question, Phaz. It's a problem because I play sports, and basically because of how I have it, it distributes the air unevenly in my nose, giving me a dry, cracked, sore, and bloody nose, while the other side takes in little to no air, and I need to breathe through my nose while playing sports. Then, as I can't keep breathing through my nose, I immediately switch to mouth breathing, in which my mouth becomes super dry, and because I can't produce saliva fast enough to keep it quenched, I start coughing up mucus into my mouth to keep it wet, then, I can't breathe. And when I'm asleep, I snore a LOT because of it, and tend to stop breathing for 4-6 seconds at a time, because of the sleep apnea problem.

You have a nasal problem and you still play sports. More than I could ever do. You'll go far in life. |
