Because people get "sucked" into them... I think video games just happened to be the thing they pointed at when they were looking for the cause of violence. Of course, they could cause violence in some people, but certainly not everyone.

"Or any platforming Co-Op game."
New Super Mario Bros for Wii, two cousins, one of which calls himself "Ninja Toad" and falls into lava every 10 seconds, and a doge that dives onto your lap, causing a controller to fly across the room, is a recipe for rage. |

| They do this with every 'new' media. Remember when they blamed comics for violence? People have to just except people don't need outside help to do bad things. |

| From my viewpoint, video games could really only cause some sort of violence in people who are already screwed up in the head. But I'm sure almost anything could be a gateway to violence if you are already mentally unstable. Video games don't teach you how to shoot a gun, drive/steal cars, or commit any other violent acts, so the argument that video games cause school shootings is invalid. |

It's almost like a cycle. People blame everything.
A while back it was that comic books rotted brains. People said rock music made you want to use drugs. Then there was the TV brainwashes/makes kids dumber claim. Now it's videogames encourage violence.

This is really annoying, no one with common sense is gonna do in real life what they do in video games, for multiple reasons:
1: Any normal person wouldn't be able to do it in the first place. They would vomit or something
2: Why the hell would we decide to stab someone because you stabbed a baddy in a video game? It doesn't take a mastermind to know that STABBING is not ok in the real world.
3: We all grow up knowing that killing real people is wrong, so we know that it's ok in video games because the people aren't real,
4: We dont need to kill real people. We can do it in videogames.

"This is really annoying, no one with common sense is gonna do in real life what they do in video games, for multiple reasons:" Whilst I agree...
"1: Any normal person wouldn't be able to do it in the first place. They would vomit or something" This is true. Most people would shoot a man, then they'd fall over, vomiting, crying, screaming, gasping for breath, they wouldn't be able to look at themselves in a mirror...
"2: Why the hell would we decide to stab someone because you stabbed a baddy in a video game? It doesn't take a mastermind to know that STABBING is not ok in the real world." Sadly, because quite a few children play these from an early age (As in five or six), they begin to think it's alright.
"3: We all grow up knowing that killing real people is wrong, so we know that it's ok in video games because the people aren't real, " Not if people are mentally disabled in some way.
"4: We dont need to kill real people. We can do it in videogames." Aye, but people are idiots.
*shrugs* But that's just my opinion. |

because they can
if someone is exposed to violence (even cartoon) from a young age and uses it as a form of recreation constantly, it can very much lead to violent behavior |

| In my opinion if you play a video game with violence and feel compelled to imitate those actions in real life, you have issues beyond what the video game could have possibly caused. It goes the same for movies, shows, and even books. There's a fine line between reality and a fictional world, which people in a sound state of mind realize and understand. |

In my opinion, violent games are fine for anyone who is
1. not a little kid 2. not mentally challenged 3. violent in general
