Outside of a cutscene, you'll like, fall 5 feet, and die instantly.
During a cutscene you could just fall from a cliff and still get back up. |

In sleeping dogs, hilariously, you get shot in the chest point blank by a shotgun after having your knees drilled out, but you can immediately run, climb, jump, and do kung-fu.
So sometimes the cutscenes are just as stupid as the gameplay. (I still love sleeping dogs) |

ingame: you can take a near infinite amount of enemies on without trouble
cutscene: you have to run when encountering a handful of enemies |
