Like I said last year, I want to stay on the sidelines on this one.
I was just wondering if you could answer a few questions, though. Although I personally won't take a side until I really see it happen, it would be nice to know some facts from yourself.
1) How do YOU and your team profit? I know you talk about your skill in marketing and business quite frequently, and I was wondering why you would take on such a project. Please, don't say something idealistic like "it's for the people". 2) What separates this project from just a (possibly) popular clan-oriented game? I realize that it counts wins and such for participants, but where do you derive absolute confidence in the project's ability to revive the clan world? 3) How are you working to ensure that major clans participate in Battle Network and add to its legitimacy? 4) How are you addressing the possibility that some major clans will not conform to the Battle Network? Will that not significantly affect the accuracy and vision of the project? 5) What is your strategy if Battle Network fails to be as significant as originally planned? |

I expected a 'its not gonna work ur gonna fail gg' thread; I appreciate the surprise with genuine and well-articulated questions!
1) There's really two questions, or one loaded question which I'll answer in two parts: Firstly, we profit through typical game monetization. Game passes, etc. Secondly, I've been in clans long enough to want to make a difference. Not everyone is devious, and this is a way to bridge my ideology with my team making a profit.
2) As I said earlier, there's demand and I'm opening up routes to fulfill that demand. We ARE a game focused on clans and I hope there was no miscommunication that I didn't intend it to be a game.
3) I don't feel like Battle Network would work with any conventional advertising methods due to the suspicious nature of it, so we'll simply let word of mouth with a little oomf take control. Major clans don't necessarily need to participate but like hell I wouldn't target them. Project Sigma, TCC, and SF are sufficient. TGI also showed interest, so there's another start. I'm sure VS will be interested in this as they were months ago.
4) Battle Network does not require every clan to participate. It's an addition for those who want it. The advertising may say one thing, but you and I both know that not everyone will use Battle Network just as everyone doesn't use Comcast, but like hell they're not making money.
5) Battle Network never planned to be significant. It simply will or won't be, and it's success isn't dictated by that. It's success is dictated by having at any time a minimum amount of clans participating actively. A law firm doesn't need to take million dollar cases to be a successful law firm.

What I know of your website is that it had minimalist design, some worst and best clan leader rank, and plans to record the analytics of the clans.
My website draft too has a minimalist design however, and the clan analytics was an excellent idea you were working on so I decided to pick up the idea after you dropped it. Just because you picked it up again doesn't mean I'm going to have my web team drop their progress. Good luck with your site, man :) |

" Firstly, we profit through typical game monetization. Game passes, etc." What sort of gamepasses? Pardon my skepticism, but I feel either they'll be purely cosmetic and not sell well or they'll affect gameplay which would be unfair in its own right.
You still haven't clearly articulated the actual functionality of Battle Network and how it'll work with clans both participating and not participating in the system. Is it possible to raid a Battle Network clan without joining, and if so how is that structured?
If major clans don't need to participate, how do you feel that it'll have enough influence to be more than just a pain, and a reason not to raid participating clans (as raiding bases in a universe is more difficult than those with standalone places).
Also, what do you say to that it's unlikely to take off without major clans participating (which doesn't currently appear to be the case), and that as a result a major concern is that if it doesn't take off and isn't extremely profitable it could be a liability to have significantly invested in your service.

| @Neovus - I had a thread posted with dozens of features, the RobloxClans site was still in progress. I do understand you think that I dropped the plans, but we are going to have a serious issue since it is transparent that the website ideas were picked up from RobloxClans without my approval. |

I'm a primary dev for BN so I'll help answer some of your questions
1) Don't you worry your butts. All of our game passes and monetization strategies will be for purely cosmetic purposes. We aim to be completely fair :)
2) As of right now you can't raid places as an unregistered player but we do have plan on how we might implement that in the near future. BN is an extension to how clans currently function, we don't mean to replace the entire system.
3) *sigh* if you'd watched the stream I gave on Saturday you'd know that BN is meant specifically to fill the gap that smaller clans have. That is, we seek to provide the bases and raiding systems for clans that can't afford the development costs to do it on their own. However, that being said. You can still obviously host your own training center or main bases and by no means do they have to be connected to BN in any way.
4) See #3. Our goal is to attract smaller clans as well as the larger ones. There are hundreds if not thousands of smaller clans on roblox that never get off the ground because they are never able to produce the technology necessary. By using BN these clans could have fun raids and fights with our system as they evolve into their own.
Larger clans will come as we grow. We don't expect them to join all at once.
Profit? We aren't worrying about profit. We do this because we love it :)
