dubstep is almost entirely rhythm-based
anyone who listens to it expecting genius melody and chord progressions will be disappointed |

dubstep is a press of the button
old music actually took work and was music
dubstep is just noise.
dancing, anything except for grinding, gas pedaling, and twrking is okay.
do you have significant evidence to support that statement? |

| Ok, I did not only mean Dubstep, but modern music. Yeah sure, some of the music is bad, but most of it is really good. |

"dubstep is a press of the button"
this makes me angry
producing electronic music requires so much more effort than anyone seems to think, it's not just "press a button then profit"
people need to have an understanding of:
1) music theory (for writing melodies) 2) frequency ranges (highs and lows) 3) composing (combining lots of instruments together) 4) mixing (EQing, adjusting volume levels)
most big tracks take weeks to months of perfection |

That's what my cousin said. I bet her I could write, record, and produce an electronic song in an hour and have it be at least DECENT. Decent as in you'd rate it 7/10.
I succeeded. It's not hard to make electronic music. You don't need to know music theory for it. And mixing is easy. You want hard music composition/production that requires talent? Orchestral. |

anyone who listens to it expecting genius melody and chord progressions will be disappointed[2] granted i don't even like dubstep that much

music in general is just noise, all comes down to what kind of noise you like

"Dubstep is just a press of a button"
WOW XD XD XD Dude back then all they had to do was get some instruments and and have a singer, then play. Dubstep is WAY harder to make then that old music. |

That's foolish Why would you rate music by how it's made? Do we listen to songs because they sound good? Or do we listen songs because we know that the musicians took a long time to make the song?

"You don't need to know music theory for it."
yes you do, unless you're copy/pasting some garbage samples of already written melodies, or take chord progressions from other songs
writing a melody that sounds good and knowing what chords to use requires music theory, mixing everything together so it sounds good requires music theory, and knowing how to structure the song and match melodies to the rhythm requires music theory |

orchestral isn't that bad if you can play piano tbh making it all blend together is difficult but if you know concert pitch and what to transpose to where you should be good

I do all that and more.
Heck I can do what they do on garageband in 10 minutes it's not hard at all.
I mix it enough to the point where every note played is on rhythm and at the right amount of volume. It's easy. Having a real band isnt. Especially playing two instruments at the same time like me.

Let me tell you how to make a song first you write and half of a good song then you wait 2 years after 2 years, you finish the 2nd half of the song because you took such a long time to make it, it will be good!

"yes you do,"
No you don't. I've worked on, composed, and produced music and gotten paid for it plenty. I'm in college and learning all about music production. You don't need to know music theory. Disagree? Argue with my professors, and THEN argue with me.
So self-righteous it's disgusting. I'm going to an arts college to learn all of this and you're preaching that you know more than me and the professors at the college. Pathetic. |

As a musician, I collect the finest of instruments. Why, one of my most recent purchases was a 700 year old violin, and it's still in mint condition. I actually have no idea how to play it. But since it is a tangible instrument, it will always sound better than dubstep when I play it. |
