I did it to learn Python, finished learning it in less than 7 hours at school. Then I moved on to read various sections of ThinkPython. |

| I feel like if the ROBLOX Wiki had tutorials based off of this website, people would be fluent in Lua much quicker. |

CodeAcademy- garbage that makes you think you know a language you don't know.
How they would explain roblox Lua:
"make an if statement if statement then end
congratulations! you're done!" |

filteringenabled doesn't even have any methods in lua, it's just a little button on workspace

Let me give you some perspective. This is a quote from a guy on Clans & Guilds:
"Im actually learning java from code accademy "
This. This is why CodeAcademy is awful. |

I learned Ruby for a Rails project on my website.
Hated it. Reverted back to PHP. Don't hate it until you learn it properly :P |

I was using codecademy to learn ruby recently. One issue is that things are oversimplified, so much that sometimes important information is hidden from you just so that you don't get confused. Imo, this type of oversimplification might be helpful at first, but leads to confusion later. Take this for example:
"The lesson would have you believe that you're modifying & sorting a Hash, but this isn't actually true. sort_by returns an Array, not a Hash." http://www.codecademy.com/forum_questions/50625a22e64a0300020441d9
The only place in the tutorial that mentions sort_by returning an array is the hint section, which is hidden by default. People who don't read the hints are left to assume that it returns a hash. |

code academy is waaaaaayyyyyyyyy too slow for me
once you know how to make a variable in one language, you can pretty easily make one in any other language
same with functions, loops, etc. they're extremely easy to translate between languages
and code academy is ssssssoooooo slow and spends way too much time on some things |
