Will keep this thread tracked and all info here.
AUSTRALIA 4-1 KUWAIT: Kuwait's Hussein Fadel opened up the scoring in the 8th for the Kuwaitis, but the Aussies score a flurry of 4 unanswered by Tim Cahill, who later inspired the later goals by Massimo Luongo, Mile Jedinak on a PK, and James Troisi to win the Asian Cup opener. Solid performance from the Socceroos.
SOUTH KOREA 1-0 OMAN (JUST FINISHED): In a match where Son and Ki were expected to shine against lowly potentially 4th place Oman, the Koreans were stunned by the Omanis, using a 3-3-4 formation for nearly entire of the match, and Oman's goalie Ali Al Habsi could not stop the strike from Young Cheol Cho in first half stoppage time as the Koreans slide by with a 1-nil win. Decent showing from the Koreans.
Uzbekistan-North Korea to kick off in 3 minutes, China-Saudi Arabia to kick off in 2 hours and 3 minutes. |

UZBEKISTAN 1-0 NORTH KOREA: Against a North Korean squad full of potential, the Uzbeks pull out an expected result as Server Djeparov captains the Uzbeks to the 1-nil win courtesy of Igor Sergeev in the 62nd for the only score of the match. Apparently the Uzbeks were dominating from what I heard before I went to bed, and I expected a bit more from them, but it's a start for them.
CHINA 1-0 SAUDI ARABIA: Wow, either Saudi Arabia is worse than I thought they'd be or we already have our first upset of the tournament! In a match with its fair share of poor play overall, China's Hai Yu scores in the 81st and China pulls off the upset. Saudi Arabia's Naif Hazazi and China's Zheng Zhi performed worse than expected. Very good start for the Chinese however. The second place spot in this group could very well be decided with the North Korea-China match.
Tonight, the UAE plays Qatar and Iran plays Bahrain. Tomorrow night, Japan plays Palestine and Jordan plays Iraq. |

| Well, Oman started out with 6 in the back and 3 midfielders, like a park-the-bus style tactic setup, but later on brought the 3 midfielders up and set up a 2-in-the-mid. |

| No lengthy recaps since I'm not on the computer but UAE beat Qatar 4-1 and Iran beat Bahrain 2-0. Iran plays Qatar and the UAE plays Bahrain for Matchday 2 in which tickets to the Quarterfinals will probably be punched. |

Since the last update, Japan beat Palestine 4-0, Iraq beat Jordan 1-0, South Korea beat Kuwait 1-0, and Australia beat Oman 4-0. Uzbekistan vs China as well as Saudi Arabia vs North Korea are both matches tonight.
Australia and South Korea already clinched quarterfinal spots as of this matchweek's fixtures, and Uzbekistan, Iran, the UAE, and Japan are all expected to clinch four more spots after this week. |

Japan and Iran will go through once again.
I don't bother watching the Asia Cup because you know who's going to go through every year. |

Not necessarily. It totally isn't out of the question that UAE vs China could be the Final. While it's most likely that the Final will feature two of Iran, South Korea, Australia, and Japan, it's not guaranteed. |

| How's China even doing, that'd be cool to see them in the WC. But at the same time they'd get hammered like every other Asian team besides Iran, and Australia. |

China beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 and Uzbekistan 2-1 and is probably going to win their group with all 9 points as they're probably going to beat North Korea. Their GK is probably the best GK of the Asian Cup so far (Iran's Alireza Haghighi and Australia's Maty Ryan the 2nd and 3rd best), and they're led by the experienced Zheng Zhi. They're playing Australia in the first round of the quarterfinals though, so I don't expect that they'll make it beyond the final eight, but miracles can happen (Greece in the 2004 Euro and Iraq in the 2007 Asian Cup).
China actually qualified for a World Cup (2002?) in recent years. |

| Saudi Arabia beat North Korea 4-1, and they have the momentum going into their match against the Uzbeks, I'd say they're going to take that 2nd spot and could very well beat South Korea and set up a potential semifinal matchup with Iran. Naif Hazazi is pretty good, and the Saudis are even missing their best player in Nasser Al-Shamrani. |

https://twitter.com/afcasiancup/status/556777655526113283 20 games without a draw. The goals are coming in at about the same rate they were in Brazil as well (2.65 at the 2015 AC, 2.67 at the 2014 WC). This is an exciting Asian Cup as well!
