It was Kool Herc and the Sugar Hill Records which rap was founded in 1976 but they started the label in 1979
Kool herc created 3/4s
Sugar hill records made 1/4
With artists like - Sugar hill gang (obviously) Grandmaster Flash The Furious Five Funky Four Plus One Crash Crew Treachorus Three Etc.
But rap didn't get really famous till 1985.

| They didn't create rap though, they created it as it's known today. It was around much before they even came on the scene as a form of rhyming poetry recited with a specific 'Flow'. |
