i usually do it every few months or so to ensure my laptop hasnt taken any major viruses and whatnot
Plus, i only really play roblox and minecraft so it doesnt take long to get all the stuff i use back.
Should i, or should i not? I do have a lot of valuable stuff such as psswords, pictures, etc etc but they can be replaced easily.
What's better? To be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort? |

Short answer: NO DON'T.
Long answer: If you reset your laptop to "remove" "major" viruses and malware, you got a serious problem. Get AVAST, it's free and updates the "virus" and malware database automatically, https://www.avast.com/en-ca/index Save some headache and also, doing the resets damages the hard drive because you putting it on a large load every few months and tires out the drive. |

AVAST itself is a virus you moron I'd rather factory reset and have a super fast running PC than 200000 things downloaded from 1 program. |

Also, who ever told you it does that to the HDD probably has a very bad hard drive if it wears it down. All it does it reset a computer and deleted everything it has.
Nice one. |

He's right about the drive - but it's mostly in the case that you have a SSD. Magnetic platters (conventional drives) are mostly immune to that - but they are NOT totally immune. Even then you should only be doing it yearly.

what's the point? you're just wearing the hdd down run a virus scan from some SIMPLE tool and see it if it has problems if not, at least transfer the files to a usb pen drive |

Do it only if you have a viruse or something. Silly to ruin your computer if you do it all the time. |
