| Based on your humble opinion, what was the greatest movie of 2014? |

Probably The Maze Runner, though it wasn't very faithful to the book.
Mockingjay - Part 1 was also better than I honestly expected. There was some pretty good animated movies as well (HTTYD 2, Big Hero 6, etc.)

| You didn't think The Maze Runner stayed true to the book? I mean, granted, they did make a couple changes - I don't remember any off the top of my head, I'd have to watch the movie again - but I thought it was mostly linear to the book. |

| While I'm at it, I would rate Big Hero 6 as the best movie of 2014. Maybe it's just me, but I thought the movie had a lot of depth- more so than most I saw last year. The story stuck with me, and it was one of the few to accomplish that. |

Ehhh, it was kind of faithful, but a lot of major events changed.
***SPOILERS AHEAD***
In the movie, -Alby died in the Glade instead of when battling the Grievers -Chuck was shot by Gally and not stabbed -Thomas and Minho actually killed the Griever when they were locked out, instead of just luring it into the Hole -The Griever Hole was nonexistent (they escaped through some other exit) -It rained in the Glade -The maze was above ground with a real sky (meaning they should have been constantly nearly dying of heatstroke like in the Scorch Trials) -The code to escape was completely different. -The Grievers looked different than the book described. -A few other things
It was definitely a good movie, but I wish they'd stayed more accurate.

"-Alby died in the Glade instead of when battling the Grievers"
I didn't catch that, but I suppose that's a pretty drastic change. I've not read the book nor seen the movie in a while, so I kind of glazed over that.
"-Chuck was shot by Gally and not stabbed"
I'm not one to care much about minor changes like this, but I can understand why some fans would mind. I've just accepted that Hollywood is never going to make the movie accurate to the book, so I glaze over details like this.
"-Thomas and Minho actually killed the Griever when they were locked out, instead of just luring it into the Hole"
True. Again, didn't catch that because I've forgotten a lot of the story.
"-The Griever Hole was nonexistent (they escaped through some other exit)"
I'm surprised I didn't catch that one though. Then again, I normally don't pay very close attention to details in a movie. My mind is too busy registering what's happening in the midst of all the action.
"-It rained in the Glade"
...I don't even remember that one, but I'll take your word for it.
"-The maze was above ground with a real sky (meaning they should have been constantly nearly dying of heatstroke like in the Scorch Trials)"
Missed that, too.
"-The code to escape was completely different."
Starting to think I should revisit the movie now...
"-The Grievers looked different than the book described."
Now that, I can understand. Frankly, they looked more like spiders than... blobs.
Overall, I see what you're saying. I didn't bother paying close attention to details, I was just there for the story and the action. That's what happens when I go to see movies. |

Uh... What movies were even released this year? Do you mind if I Google search "Best movie of 2014" then steal the answer of someone more educated on this subject then I?
... ... ...
Boyhood was easily the best movie of the year. It was voted #1 on Rotten tomatoes...Which isn't the reason I picked it. I totally have both seen it and know what it is about.
Aye. |
