Only for a few hours, as I'm pretty close to NYC.
We took the train in the morning, the ride was around an hour or so. It was a relatively nice day, and I had a window seat, so the view was pretty nice. There was one hobo who asked for money to get to Manhattan before we went into NY, and then once we were in NY, he came back asking for money to out OUT of Manhattan.
We visited two churches. One a relatively hidden one, but it was nice, and St. Patrick's Cathedral (of course).
We went to the NYC public library. There's no books, they were across the street. Basically, it's sort of a museum now.
We then made our way down to the Rockefeller Center, and took a picture with the tree, which is a must, especially at this time of the year. After that, we wondered around to get some food.
We were in the Times Square area. We went into a TGI Fridays, but the wait was nearly half an hour, and my brothers were becoming hungry and rowdy. We went to a shady steakhouse about a block away.
The place was in Times Square, as said before. Most restaurants in the vicinity of and around Times Square are very busy. This place was not, and that should have been a warning. Or it could have been that it was a genuine local place, which after the experience, I think not.
I got a chicken. It was good, but you could probably make it at your house yourself for far less money.
The grilling was fast, but it was relatively well cooked, so it was "fast food." The place was cafeteria style, which was odd, especially for a steakhouse.
Even though the steak was "fast food" and pretty average, it was still expensive.
The decor was pretty shady and was very outdated.. The only decoration I saw was a Christmas tree.
To sum it all up, if we had researched this place up earlier and did a little more research, and knew what our experience was going to be like, we would go somewhere else.
tl;dr: I went to NYC for a little bit today |

Oh and yes, I went to the M&M Store.
Not a much better experience there than the steak place. It was very crowded, and you couldn't stop to look at things without getting bumped into by other people. And like any store in NYC, stuff was expensive. |

Too far and too expensive. I know once you leave the tourist trap areas of Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and any coastal towns like that, it's nice. |

And yes, I agree, NYC is overrated. I know far too many people who rarely leave NJ and think NYC is the perfect place. It's not, too many people, very expensive, the government there wants to be in your business all the time (Same in Cali, sorry).
It's alright. I have family up in NYC, and I visit them often. As one who has seen NYC outside of Manhattan, there are some pretty nice and quiet areas |

| The weather over here is nice, barely hitting below 50 and we got nice beaches and beautiful scenery that will interest you. But I'm not a traveling expert but I been to NYC and it was not worth my time the only place that's relevant there is Manhanttan and Brookyln. (it's not the big apple as people say it is) |

If you're going to go to NYC and want to have a nice time, do it on a normal weekday. All the other tourists are gone, and most people are in school or work during the day. The best time to go would be mid to late morning, to avoid rush hour, but be in NYC by the early afternoon, again, to avoid rush hour.
Because the city will be much quieter and calmer, you will be able to see more for longer.

I would love to visit Vegas. Except I'm not 18 nor 21, so my experience would be very limited. |
