Okay, so I get the gist: you make scripts for people and then they give you money.
I have a few questions about this:
1. How do the money transactions work? Do you get paid before or after the script?
2. How do you give people the scripts? Do you just make them a model? Do you send them a file?
3. How good of a scripter must you be?
4. Is it worth the time?
5. Does it pay better than game developing?
6. How do you advertise yourself as a freelance scripter without wasting money on ads and annoying people in the forums? |

What I do is offer the product, negotiate a price, and then start working on it. Make a demo show buyer charge (or edit depending on buyer's opinion) give via model or pastebin link
3. good enough to get the job done 4. Depends on how much you value your time 5. Can you develop a good enough game to make money? 6. Just write about it in your blurb or look out for buyers in LMaD. I always direct people there. You may also check GD, but technically they aren't supposed to go there .-. |

1. How do the money transactions work? Do you get paid before or after the script? Make the script, show them it works, get paid, give script. Always bug your scripts just in case. Someone tried to rip me off and now his game is down big time.
2. How do you give people the scripts? Do you just make them a model? Do you send them a file? Skype files
3. How good of a scripter must you be? Good enough to make whatever they want
4. Is it worth the time? No, people always tack on more and more work. If you're going to do it, make sure to charge for each individual item. This will reduce the amount of time you have wasted if they decide to back out.
5. Does it pay better than game developing? Obviously not but you have to actually make the game and get it popular.
6. How do you advertise yourself as a freelance scripter without wasting money on ads and annoying people in the forums? Wait until they come on the forums or something. Put it in your blurb, etc.
Don't sell yourself short. Remember, 100k R$ = $250 and federal minimum wage in the US is $7.25/h. |

@lordrambo
You mentioned that you bug your scripts. What does this mean? How might I accomplish this? Could you please provide an example? |

Have it query your server at start
If the server responds with a death warrant blow everything up

Just do some damaging stuff in the script somewhere discrete and only fix it if they pa y you.
Or you could just have them pay first. |

| No sense in bugging your scripts unless you're rather good at hiding it and you should just always make them pay first. |

| What I do, is I encode key parts of the scripts in MainModules. If they don't pay, delete the MainModule. :) |

| You can probably use html service but I use GetProductInfo and read the description of a model I made. If it says "on" or something, then I just call :ClearAllChildren() on workspace and that's good enough to destroy the game. You could also use the description to display a message to everyone in the game letting them know that the owner is a cheat (while you destroy their game). I regret not doing that. |

| KOT's method is actually way better. They could hire someone to fix what I did. If you delete the MainModule there is no hope. |

| Usually in my large-scale projects I incorporate some sort of in-game beta-testing system with people who can administrate and run functions in-game to test, but I always make sure to encode my name there or hide something in the main module determining whether or not the code actually runs. That's just a back-up... I always make people pay first. |

Or instead of deleting it just rename it 'mainModule' instead of 'MainModule' so it stops working
If they give in and pay up, rename it MainModule
You already made the script, might as well try and get the money if you can instead of just deleting it all
My opinions
1. Always before, after showing the script works at your place, people will try and get you to give you the script first but don't listen You have no reason to not give the script after they pay, they have the reason of keeping their money to not pay after they get it, or they lie and say it doesn't work so they don't pay
2. Thats up to you, if its something that is just the code roblox PMs or codepad could work, if its got anything other than 1 script with it send them the rblx model over skype
3. You don't have to be very good, just ask what they want and if you can do it then go for it if not tell them sorry you can't, so you only have to be as good as what they need
4. Sometimes
5. Honestly, probably if you do it right, people are willing to pay a lot for easy crap and you don't have to worry about keeping it up to date
6. Same as the other people said |
