after having both I prefer membrane by far keystrokes just feel so smooth and good and they're quiet. omggg

| Don't know the difference to be honest. I use an onscreen keyboard for my tablet. It's pretty damn fast. |

@zeretin or whatever a mechanical keyboard has springs/buttons for every individual key a membrane keyboard has a big rubber pad with a dome on it and when that dome is pressed down in a certain location, the electrons transmitted tell the keyboard which key was pressed I THINK

| My Chromebook had the second keyboard you describe. It sucks ass. It feels good to type on, but the only thing holding the keys to the membrane is a little bit of glue. If you type too much, the keys will literally start flying off and they're really hard to glue back on. My i and t keys are hard to use now because they flew off and I badly super glued them back on. |

| My brother has a mechanical keyboard for gaming, and I actually prefer the membrane keyboard on my laptop to his keyboard -- although it is satisfying to type on the mechanical one. |
