You can't look at stats for QBs in different generations. The calls in the 80s and 90s gave the defense more of an advantage. While in the modern age, almost every call goes towards the offensive player in terms of on man pass defending.
Peyton Manning isn't even the best quarterback in his era. Tom Brady. |

joe montana also had the greatest receiver of all time as well as many hall of famers on offense and defense around him.
name a tom brady receiver that is in the HOF or will go in the HOF name a peyton manning reciever that is in the HOF or will go in the HOF (excluding marvin harrison) |

Peyton Manning WR HoF candidates IMO - Wes Welker(longshot), Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne he also played alongside Dwight Freeney, Marshall Faulk, Champ Bailey, and Jeff Saturday
