In simple ROBLOX player terms... it makes your internet go offline for a duration of time.
They can only do this if they have your IP Address which may be obtained by using your Skype username, direct Skype voice/video chat connection, and/or direct x-fire text/voice connection. |

i don't think many people here actually know what it means and misuse the term a lot. It's basically the new 'I'm hacked!' even though that person gave out his own info. It's wrong.
A DDoS can't be done by any of Roblox's skiddies. A DoS maybe, but not much more than that. Giving out your IP isn't the world's worst crime as people make it out to be, either.
DDoS: Done by multiple (hijacked) machines to completely ping another system to death (for a time) DoS: Done by one machine, can usually be prevented pretty well. IP: Not the code to a nuclear strike, not your biggest secret.

I mean, just think logically, if one guy on Roblox can do a DDoS attack, why aren't popular services being DDoS'd all the time? That's because that one guy on Roblox can't DDoS anyone.

| Silent I think you should revise that and say ddos attacks are not usually carried out by ROBLOX skiddies, because some people actually do. |

| In reality it's just one guy CTRL + Ving your IP into the ping spot on his command line. |

Popular services are ddos'd all the time... Dell was taken offline a few nights ago lol, many sites are.
DDoS attacks have different attack power and methods, not everyone has a botnet that can hit down a major company but people /do/ have botnets that can do significant damage. |

No, no they're not. If some random dude on Roblox can do DDoS attacks all of the sudden, it would mean anyone can, meaning there would be tons of attacks right now. That simply isn't the case. As for your example, that hardly proves anything.
"It was taken offline". Did you read the example I posted a while back? Just because it's offline doesn't mean it's a DDoS attack. Just think logically for a bit.

Millions of actual ddos attacks go out daily, have you heard of Lizard Squad lately by chance?
Many people on ROBLOX can ddos. |

I'm sure many people try. But are they effective? I beg to differ.
You wouldn't be reading this right now if 'many people on Roblox could DDoS'.

As I said previously, ddos tools (eg. botnets) have different ranges of attack power and attack methods.
Just because you can't hit roblox offline doesn't mean you can't ddos, and it's not like they're going to all band together to try taking ROBLOX offline. |

| Furthermore, certain sites (like ROBLOX) have a vast amount of servers, each equipped with godly ddos protection. |

In a nutshell; they're ineffective. There's odd cases where it does work.
There's nothing to be afraid of.

If they're using your average booter and you don't have a VPN or google fiber, you can expect to go offline if they obtain your IP.
There's no 'chance' in play. |

Justin, A LOT OF PEOPLE ON ROBLOX CAN ACTUALLY DDOS.
It's RARE that random skiddies like Final can make a threat and stick to it however some people can.
