It's a nice state, especially for raising a middle class family. In the last five years, it has experienced a big economic boom because of the recent discovery of oil in that state. Not to mention, it also has the lowest unemployment rate in the country at the moment (standing at a mere 2.0%). Soon this will change though, oil has gone down from being well over $100 per barrel, to LESS than $55 per barrel. This means that demand will go down, which essentially means that production will decrease and that could mean fewer jobs. Fewer jobs can mean more crime, a population drop, poverty, and an increasing unemployment rate. Another problem with North Dakota is that without oil, it doesn't have much to offer beside agriculture. It is an empty state mostly, with two cities that I'd say are relatively medium-sized: Fargo and Grand Forks. I think this new North Dakotan boom will definitely not last for long, especially since America is trying to discover new ways on how to produce alternative energies which would rely on natural things such as water, wind, sunlight, etc.

This is just my theory.

I've been intrigued by the state for years, I even thought about moving. It may be a bit boring, but you gotta make the best out of everything. What I love about ND is that the American dream still lives on in that state. Hard working Americans. It is very family-oriented as well, and the cities are extremely safe. Grand Forks is more of a town though. I'd say that Fargo is a city.

Fire, I am saying that there has been a recent discovery of oil in North Dakota. I don't mean oil as a whole, obviously we've known about oil for hundreds of years and that it could produce energy.

The oil lease on family lands has been producing oil since 43 years ago.
So, not to recent.
They have just discovered a larger oil deposit is all.

Oil can technically be found in tiny amounts everywhere, but not enough to sell to national consumers. Most of the oil was discovered in Northern North Dakota anyway. Mostly around Minot and north.
