Somehow script it so it's terrain water that comes and pushes people back. Make it in maps where furniture can be taken along with the tsunami, and small houses, but big buildings take along time to collapse. Makes it so player can't die, but get out of the round if they pass a certain point.
Give some credit to me for the idea if you decide to make it C: Maybe watch some footage of what actual tsunamis are like for inspiration
Maps: Highway map, where cars get swept along Beach resort Small town Big city Poor city with raggedy huts and stuff Motorway tunnel (with some little passageways for maintenance)
I can't make it though, I'm not good enough, but maybe some of you game dev out there could? |

Actually I had the same almost exact idea as you. But It's a neighborhood type game on some beach or island and rarely you'd encounter a tsunami you'd be capable of drowning but if you can manage to reach the air then it'll take less time to drown if you get back in the water. And the only damage you take is if you hit something hard. |

I think it would be better if there was a wall at the back of the map and if you passed it you were out of the round. Of course bricks could sweep you along.
If you're thinking of making this make the first wave sort of a flood, and they gradually get a bit bigger.
Look at footage of the 2004 boxing day tsunami or the 2011 japan one to see how real tsunamis actually work, they're not actually MASSIVE, but they more like big black inky masses of part water part debris that travel long distances. |
