The movie was unrealistic to the book, such as when Sonny felt depressed after the death of Ike Byvkovski or whatever his name is, and started to work in the mine. I don't remember that in the book. Plus, I don't remember the part where they make rocket fuel in Big Creek High School, next dump it into the sink drain, and then a girl drops a match into the drain and fire comes out of the drains. I don't remember that in the book either. |

Well, there's your problem. You think that adaptations have to match the source material. But that means that the adaptation is only good if it has the same good things that the source material has. A movie can go completely off track and still be good, if not better, than the book. Take The Shining, for example. A great amount of the symbolism in the book was not used in the same way, but it was still a great movie. |
