Go to your Ti calculator
Click y= on the top left of the calc
enter that equation into y1
then click zoom, and press the number 6
you see the "trace" button? Click 2nd (should be around the y= button), and then click trace
scroll down to where it says maximum, and click it
then, click to the left of where you think the max is (tallest area)
then, click to the right of where you think the max is
then, click in place
it'll tell you max value

So um
y=-16t^2+64t+5
it's t squared right
so just find a way to combine that and 64t
then graph
plenty of google stuff just find it

y=-16t^2+64t+5
x of vertex = -b/2a
-64/32= -2
y of vertex= -16(-2)^2+64(-2)+5
-16(-4)-156+5
64 - 156 + 5 = -87
max is -87
or maybe not
that sounds wrong

you just factor it if you can't do that, use the quadratic formula |

y=-16t^2+64t+5
you derive it u nub
y'=-32t+64
set equal to 0
0=-32t+64
-64=-32t
t=2
at 2 seconds it reaches max height
plug it in original
y=-16(2)^2+64(2)+5
y=-64+128+5
y=64+5
y=69

u sure u cant use ur graphing calc? that's the only way i know how to do it, graph it and then just find Max
or you could just graph it with an x/y table and kind of estimate it.. |
