Center (5): Tallest player plays near the rim. Power Forward (4): 2nd tallest, near the rim as well, but will defend the shot. Small Forward (3): Like a power forward but smaller. Shooting Guard (2): Height doesn't matter much, but usually taller than point guard. Around the perimeter. Point Guard (1): the QB of the offense, and the first line of defense. |

hockey
centre: most important player, generally touches the puck most and plays defence the most out of all forwards. wins faceoffs, always near the net
left wing: generally your fastest player, job can include gaining the zone and start the play
right wing: generally the best shooter on a team. gets in position to snipe goals
defencemen: various styles of play for each, but their job is to generally defend and push play forward into the neural zone
goalie: protect the damned net |

you can't generalize soccer positions it depends on the style of play that you implement and the formation that you use
it isn't like other sports. there are different roles for different players at the same position.
ex.
offensive fullback vs. defensive fullback
target forward vs. second striker vs. poacher vs. outside striker vs. false 9
box-to-box midfielder vs. destroyer vs. holding midfielder vs. deep-lying playmaker |

i don't know about triple doubles. those just don't happen. it's hard because they require you to be good at more than one position. point guards aren't gonna get 10 rebounds any time soon and power forwards aren't gonna get 10 assists any time soon |
