One, what the hell is RPN?
Two, how do you make an arrogant character not totally unlikable, and further more how do you make a female arrogant character without her being totally unlikable?
Three, who wants to play Town of Salem? |

1. RPN - RolePlayingNation, an RP forum lots of us are leaving to. The fact people are publicizing it so much only snowballs it more. 2. I dunno, make her a frigid b**** heiress tsundere. |

okay so what the hell is RPF then?
And Slack, she's a member of a bloodline of ancient heroes. She puts her life on the line every single day, WHICH MAKES IT SO FRIGGIN DIFFICULT TO WRITE HER AS UNHUMBLE AND ARROGANT! |

| Why does the arrogant character need to be likable? Can't you just make them unlikable? |

No, we're just RP. This silly slang is annoying and pointless, plus this just seems like 2010 with Roleplaygateway all over again. Does no one here learn their RP history?
eh, whatever. I'll find a way to revive this dump once I'm done with my story. BUT BACK TO THE SUBJECT OF HOW TO MAKE THE CHARACTER ARROGANT AND YET NOT TOTALLY UNLIKABLE... |

"One, what the hell is RPN?"
One of the more well-known roleplaying forums. A lot of members here either use it too or plan to leave for it.
"Two, how do you make an arrogant character not totally unlikable, and further more how do you make a female arrogant character without her being totally unlikable?"
Give them some good personality traits as well, and don't make them arrogant in every situation. It might help if there's a character who's even worse in the RP that they can disagree with. |

@Swedish
It can still kind of work if they have another character in the story to play off of, like I said. |

Not really.
And Mage, what in the world gave you the idea she's a tsundere? She's arrogant and unhumble, not cold and hostile. |

Hm? Oh. Nothing.
Well, if you want to make her likable don't just classify her as an "arrogant person" People don't have one character traits. I mean, I may be a genius but that is not my only defining characteristic. Give her other qualities people can enjoy about her. |

The only solution I see is to make her cold and hostile, and then have the main character make her, you know...
Not cold and hostile, you dirty person you. |

1: A website I shall never move to.
2: "Two, how do you make an arrogant character not totally unlikable, and further more how do you make a female arrogant character without her being totally unlikable?"
Make 'em nice but always have some gossip about others and a bit annoying. Have some grudge.
Female: Always judge someone and make them feel like rubbish. Have the female character be the queen bee, thinking she is over everyone and butt into anything that goes on around, either about her or others. |

| Maybe the character has a scarred past if you had not decided yet. At one part she may break down and tell you her story making her more likable. Kinda like Sapphire from Skyrim. |

1. Roleplaynation, bassically a version of RPF with a bigger, more friendly community, and a lot more user friendly features. Not to mention that it's not limited by filter.
2. Making an arrogant character more likeable isn't really limited by their gender, but since you ask I will write a little summary out for you.
You can go down several different routes to make an arrogant character more likeable. For starters, you can go down the more comedic route, making them a funny yet arrogant character who's snide, arrogant remarks hit home to an audience can quickly make them an audience favorite.
You can also make them likeable by going down the redemption path. You pretty much start off making them as detestable and enveloped in themselves as possible. You don't try to make them too likeable in the eyes of the audience initially, and instead you have the character learn through his experiences, and therefore develop into a more likeable character towards the audience. I suggest watching the first Cars as a good example of this.
Another way in which you can make them likeable is by mixing their more arrogant traits with some more likeable traits, or by making their arrogance a ploy for the character to hide his or her low self esteem or crappy parenting(As evident in ATLA). Arrogant characters who are crowd favorites often fall into this category, as noteable with Zuko and Azula from ATLA, whom the audience liked and wished for them to find redemption in the eyes of the protagonist.
Hope this helps, and lol'd at Tim. |
