according to this, we are the highest country with a high gdp then china is, and japan is in 3rd but not very behind china.
the us and japan are very good allies, and japan already has a giant economy,

We are fairly self sufficient.
We have a lot of natural resources that we are just sitting on for future political leverage
Example: We just started extracting our nations oil (Excluding Alaska which has a crap ton) which is causing a big issue with the top oil suppliers (OPEC, Russia) causing them to need to drop gas prices to compete and lose a share of their profit. (that's why today I can get a gallon of gas in USA for about only $2.80)

| If china stopped supplying the US, the rate of cheap toys would drop by a landslide. |

It's not about oil imports it's about oil EXPORTS.
if you were selling lemonade to 100 people, and suddenly another stand sets up, taking away 50 people, they only way you will get those people back is if you lower the price of your lemonade.

the us is so f'ed up right now. all you guys do is spend your money on defence and military technology. the money should be spent more on helping your own citizens. stop focusing on trying to help other countries if your citizens are suffering.

@VicePrezLava
If USA stopped spending money on defense every country in NATO would have to GREATLY increase their military funding. In fact, like last year only 3 countries (including USA) met the MINIMUM military spending requirement set by NATO. |
