| Technically you just attacked atheists by saying that we're always the scapegoat. |

"Technically you just attacked atheists by saying that we're always the scapegoat."
Stating something that is relatively true based upon someone's experiences is in no way an attack. |

I am a Christian as well, but I've already decided that OT is not the place for religious discussion.
And before people make remarks about my siggy, it is a TV show quote. Don't like it? Deal with it.

this does seem to be common, but I will say this (as an agnostic)
an atheist can't really make a comment on a subject referencing their denomination without being seen as offensive
what I'm saying is, in any way, atheists will pretty much come across as "your god isn't real" and religious come across as "I believe in a god"
now which sounds more passive?

| It has been my observation that numerous Christians are ignorant and closed-minded. I don't want to believe that all theists are like that, but that's the only conclusion I can come to from my multiple prior experiences. That's not an attack either. |

I don't mind that, although saying you're an atheist negates the need to express how little you believe But when atheists attribute a lack of intelligence to religious beliefs, that's where it gets stupid to me

This is true. Many so called "Christians" are ignorant and closed-minded, just as many atheists are ignorant and closed-minded. This does not mean that they all are though. I am a Christian, but I am not so closed-minded as to dismiss others' opinions. Nobody has ever proven to me that God doesn't exist, and as such, I will continue to believe in Him. |

@hardcore
perhaps you should have named yourself something perceived as annoying or stereotypical in ot in conjunction with your bait
it would enrage them more than a username named after the portion of intestines

Oh boo-hoo. You make up over 70% of the entire country's population but... oh woe is you! you are so persecuted! Your life must be so terrible, I feel sorry for you!
Imbecile.
I dare you to wear a shirt simply saying "atheist" on it for a single day and go out in public and see what REAL persecution is. |

There's good and bad in every group. There's good Christians and bad Christians. There's good atheists and bad atheists. The bad of any group are the closed-minded who spend all their time slamming the other side and who refuse to at least listen to what the other side says. The good will listen (they don't have to necessarily agree with them) and won't insult or belittle the other side. Now, nothing's wrong with debating, but there's a fine line between a debate and a fight.

That's hardly justification for returning the favor on otherwise docile and pacifistic religious believers
