| Video games are starting to not only get stale, but the graphics/updates are getting ridiculous. I remember myself growing up with only an SNES, the third gaming system ever to be created. The SNES had 2-D sprites to use. You're probably thinking something like "Wow sounds really dumb and boring. Why are you even on this forum?" or other. But, let me tell you a miracle you probably don't experience! All you had to do was put the game in, flip the switch, and played your game. Simple. Now days, you have to turn on your system, find your game, let it load for 10 minutes to check for updates, and take an hour or more to update. This was also back when Square didn't just make Final Fantasy games. Sure, those were GREAT back then before 13 onward, but that was the age that Square-SOFT (Not Enix, Square-Soft joined with Enix to make SquareEnix.) actually tested new mechanics with their games. For a bright and shining example, Live-A-Live. A game based on 8 characters of different regions and time zones. It's an RPG game, but you have a tactical board that has a checker-board feel to it. You get up to 15 - 20 different skills per character, and each have different effects, like setting the ground on fire, and over time, anything on that tile gets hurt: even the user and friends. But these 8 characters have a story behind each, until the 9th chapter where they all link to the 8th characters world. They end up fighting the main character of chapter 8 in the end after finding everyone's true potential. There are the 8 classes: Kung-Fu, Ninja, Psycho, Cave-Man, Cowboy, Wrestler, Sci-Fi, and Knight. The knight is always the last since you have to unlock him by finishing the first 7 classes. But anyhow, back on the topic of the games are falling, Square joined Enix, and after that: Final fantasy, Final fantasy, Final fantasy. Nothing new. Sure, new mechanics here and there, but it's always the same thing; Saving the world. Back to our example game for a bit. The ending of the story is for the 7 heroes' own good, not the worlds. The world in the 9th chapter is actually still, nothing moves, and the only people that move are the 8 main characters. No NPC's, just monsters and the characters. The thing about this is the fact that they don't care about the world, they just want to return to their own. But in final fantasy games, it's always about saving the rest of the world. Sure, they CAN be fun, but that's it. And yes, I am gonna get on the topic of Shooters. Shooters are kinda fun. Except when there's an update. Which is usually every week. It wastes time on the update, and you end up having to continue your day without actually playing. A more fun way of using this time for shooters is getting a game with rare updates, no updates, or optional updates on your computer: believe me, there're plenty. But again, shooters get repetitive, considering the campaign is usually terrible or the same, and because the game-play is the same. Sure, some shooters may not even be based on real life guns, but that's rare, and usually for people who play S4-League which bases themselves on things like Magic Weapons, so not exactly the shooter type. And don't think I won't stab you, too, platformers. You thought you'd get away? No. I remember Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3. The soundtrack was better, and the game-play was better. I spent 40 dollars on DK Country Returns, and it sucked. The game wasn't fun, but it was full of rage. Yes, I raged at a kids game shaddup. But platformers are starting to repeat, especially Mario. "MARIO GO SAVE THE PRINCESS SHE PRACTICALLY LEAPS INTO BOWSERS ARMS AGAIN!" *Journey to save the princess through 8 different regions, getting a bonus stage called region/world 9.* Boom. I just summed up your game, players, all in a single roleplay command. (Just saying, Yoshi's island was good, and so was new island. All the remakes.) And do NOT say that the platformers are still fun; they're not. Everything is repeating themselves with but one thing: better graphics. The graphics update is useless, I'm not spending $40+ on that crud. And, just to protect Final Fantasy 6/3, (Depending the country) they didn't save the world entirely; it still was permanently plunged into eternal hell, though they did partially save it from being completely destroyed by Kefka. Anyhow, I've ended my little ranty-rant, and I know there's not many reading this by this point, considering they either haven't read any of it, or stopped somewhere between the beginning and the end, but I just want to finally get this out there. |

| All I saw was a block of text, no words. Reason: the gaming industry is still growing. |
