They say that they think that even though the stuff we're doing is more difficult, it's not benefitting us. They think that kids have no common sense and are unable to do things like get jobs and do chores because they get so much work to do in school that they don't have the time. I kinda agree with them because of my experience with school and work so far on only an 8th grade level.

| Here's what I have found so far about 8th grade year. The work isn't hard, they just pile a crapton on to make it seems like you're doing something more. And then our school last year got these new labs and textbooks which most of the teachers dislike and don't give enough example or explain things well. |

I don't know my reading level, I don't really read anymore. I used to a lot, but now I've just been so unhappy at school that whenever I'm home I just want to go on the computer and do something that I think is more fun.

Eh, I disagree and agree. My Algebra 1 course, even though it's technically HS level math, not middle school level math, is really difficult. Everything else is fairly easy beyond the work. You have it right with the work, though. A lot of it IS unnecessary, and the only excuse for giving it is, "You have to prepare for HS!!!11111one"

I know how you feel, I've compared how much work I have to do to my sister who is in highschool. She gets a small amount each night, with one or two worksheets per class, while I'm sitting around finishing packets each day.

I have Algebra 1 too and it's not that easy but most kids are in a more advanced math than that even in my grade. So I kind of agree since I'm not very good at math.
And then don't get me started on the spoiled ass students. |

"But the homework is supposed to be easy enough for you to do" When half the teachers don't really teach, then it becomes harder to finish homework. Only two teachers I have this year have actually taught instead of piling notes upon notes, without explaining anything.

My school only has 2 levels -- pre-algebra and algebra. I have the kind of algebra teacher that's good at teaching, but who gives a CRAPTON of time-consuming work over breaks and who gives tests that are, generally, a level above what's actually taught.
I always feel guilty about talking about how much money my parents have. I don't understand how anyone could be comfortable bragging about how rich they are. It sounds very elementary, though. The last time I heard someone brag about their money was like in 1st grade.

But, in all seriousness, the subjects in HS aren't that hard. They just keep PILING HOMEWORK ONTO YOU. It doesn't help when most of the students [myself included] have extracurricular activities that take up almost all of your time.
Take mine for example, I get out of school at 3:35/3:40-ish. It then takes me till about 3:40 or 4:00 to get to the location of my extracurricular activity, then I have till 4:30 to do as much HW as I can. From 4:30 till 7:00 I have to work on that extracurricular thing. I typically don't get him till about 8:00-8:30, so after that I have till 10:00 to do ALL of my HW, work [some more] on the activity I finished working on at 8:30, and get ready for the next day.
To put it simply, I don't have enough time to do all of my assignments in a timely fashion.

Oh yeah my math tests can be hard also.
And lets just say they don't directly brag. They are just a total ass in general and have that spoiled brat air about them. |

I know the feeling. Last year I had a pre-algebra teacher who didn't teach at all and a Spanish teacher who gave out the most ridiculous groupwork assignments ever. My LA teachers have never been quality, either, though every grade in my school has two LA teachers and I've gotten the worse of the two, without fail, every year. I can probably say my LA teacher fits the criteria of 'piling on notes.' My other teachers are different and unique this year, though, which is good.

Yeah, a lot of teachers don't take the fact that students have personal lives into account when they decide to dish out an extra worksheet or ten due the next day.

Yep. It's because it's so...uncertain. Like, you never know what to expect -- A problem from chapter 1 that you haven't done in the past 2 months could be on there, or something from 5th grade! :')
Ohhhhh. The funny thing is that I have a lot of new clothes that my parents bought me yet I still wear my old stuff that is faded and stained. I don't know why, maybe I don't like change, haha. A bit off topic, but this conversation just reminded me of that.

The stupid thing is that we've stated this issue to the school counselor multiple times, only to receive the response of:
"Oh, I understand it's hard and all, but, don't you think your teachers have a lot of work too?"

I live in Mississippi, where they shove the Bible down your throat.
Aside from that, all of the teachers are good.
Especially if you live in a small town (mine is ruffly 8000 ppl) |
