WIJ Newsthread Edition 2 [0.0] Contents [0.1] Summary/Announcements [0.2] Cerulean II [0.3] Interview with Bluestar831 [0.4] Lore sneakpeek [0.5] Activity Argumentative [0.6] War Argumentative
[0.1] Summary/Announcements In this edition, we have some info on the up and coming Cerulean II, an interview with the newly promoted Lieutenant Bluestar, and a sneak-peek of WIJ lore. We also have a couple argumentatives, and, of course, a couple announcements.
> VAK Raids As you’re almost certainly aware, VAK has been raiding us lately. Keep up the defense at Indigo II, and remember that any type of flaming or glitching is not allowed. That also includes gun-jumping.
> Mainframe III remains offline Even after a couple of weeks, the Mainframe is still offline. This is due to ROBLOX updates that disabled saving in personal servers, thus rendering the mainframe useless except to view careers.
> Forum behavior notice It should be noted that all WIJ members are required to abide by the WIJ guide when on the forums if you’re representing WIJ. Basically, if you’re wearing the WIJ uniform, you’re required to abide by the WIJ rules. If you take off the uniform, you’re no longer bound by our rules.
[0.2] Cerulean II As most of you know, Voile has been working on Cerulean II. A sneak-peek of this interesting base was released for the Halloween Event, in which you killed a gigantic pumpkin. The sneak-peek was really just that, though - there’s a lot more to it than what we saw. Let’s check out what Voile said we can expect in Cerulean II.
For starters, the size of Cerulean II is going to be quite large, similar to its predecessor. There’s really not much to say about this; it’s pretty self explanatory.
Remember when Silent posted a thread hinting at the finished product of wARC? It practically became legend afterward due to the lack of any announcements regarding it. A lot of people thought that it was scrapped. In reality, though, it wasn’t. To those who may not know, the thread talked about a couple new weapons, new vehicles, stuff like that.
Voile has confirmed that we can expect at least two of the weapons mentioned by Silent - the X11 and PBW. Of course, the names are subject to change, but that’s irrelevant. The X11 is a constant beam rifle, and the PBW is a plasma bow. That’s really all the details we’ve got regarding those two weapons at the moment, but you can expect that they’ll spice things up quite a bit. Silent also mentioned a new marksman rifle and a gravity hammer, though the availability of those in Cerulean II haven’t been confirmed nor denied. Note, however, that the X11 and PBW are expected to be in an update, and thus won’t be readily available upon release of Cerulean II.
Deployables and utilities were also mentioned. Both are concepts that may not make it into Cerulean II, but we’ll take a peek anyway. We’re looking at blowtorches, mediguns, and drop pods. Like I said, though, it’s just a concept. I think you can imagine the amount of variability and possibility for extreme strategies these could bring.
Lastly, we can expect some new ground vehicles in Cerulean II. Whether they’ll be remastered versions of older vehicles, such as the Rusher, or completely new vehicles, is a detail that hasn’t been released yet.
Voile said he’s aiming to release Cerulean II around the new year, but that’s tentative.

[0.3] Interview with Bluestar831 At times, it may seem like the world is against you. You have a goal that others don't believe you'll achieve. One of the WIJ Corporation's most loyal, dedicated members was promoted to Lieutenant on October 28. This person is bluestar831, who has been a member of WIJ for quite some time. He is well known throughout the community. Many people didn't take him seriously and didn't believe he could ever advance to the officer ranks. He proved them wrong. He proved that you determine your own success in your career. Everyone has potential, and it should not be wasted.
Diligent27: What is the main reason you wanted to become an officer?
bluestar831: I've always wanted to be an officer, but as the years went by, the reasons have changed. Initially, I wanted to become an officer so I could participate in WIJ's success. Toward the middle of my career, I wanted to become an officer because I felt as if I deserved it. More recently, I wanted to become an officer to prove that I'm not just a random troll. I wanted to prove that I can be an asset to WIJ.
Diligent27: What do you enjoy doing the most in WIJ?
bluestar831: My favorite role in WIJ is assisting with ST recruitment.
Diligent27: Do you feel like a different person now that you're an officer?
bluestar831: No. For the most part, people treat me the same as before. I don't feel more mature either. Nothing has changed except my rank and my abilities in WIJ.
Diligent27: Now that you're an officer, what are your goals in WIJ?
bluestar831: I'm not looking for another promotion. As far as I'm concerned, this is my peak in WIJ, and I'm content with that.
Diligent27: How much confidence did you have about your commission being accepted?
bluestar831: 0. I'm already fully aware of my controversial reputation in WIJ, so it wouldn't have been a surprise if my commission was denied.
Diligent27: What is some advice you would give to lower ranked members who want to become an officer?
bluestar831: Prove people wrong. If people think you're an idiot, prove them wrong. If people don't take you seriously, do something that they can't ignore. Whatever problem someone has with you, do something that'll make them think twice.

[0.4] Lore sneak-peek Most if not all of you know that Corus is working on lore for WIJ. We aren't talking some random stories, though. Corus writer Cashpop said in an interview that the writers' goal is to provide an immersive and familiar window into WIJ's history - and the history of other species within the lore.
At the moment, the lore is pretty underdeveloped. It's possible that the lore will be released to the public in 2015, though there's no specific date.
Cashpop did, however, give me a tad of WIJ's background. This is what he says, "[redacted] is the birthplace of the WIJ alliance, along with the beginning of the open rebellion by the Insurgents that attacked many installations on [redacted], Castle Cobalt being one of them."
Of course, this won't mean much since you don't know what the heck [redacted] is, but it's clear that you can expect a well developed and large amount of lore. Personally, I'm quite excited about it.
Gentaurg, who also contributes heavily to the lore, said that we can expect something video-related. He didn't say what precisely it'll be, but it certainly sounds interesting.

[0.5] Activity Argumentative > WIJ's inactive? Perhaps we should get more Lieutenants. I'll admit it - WIJ isn't at peak activity right now. Pretty much everyone knows that. What could help it, though? More Lieutenants? Maybe. Let's see.
Consider the following scenario: fifteen Sentinels are promoted to Lieutenant. What would happen? I can tell you it probably wouldn't be good. When it comes to being a Lieutenant, you have to understand WIJ rules, how to calculate cP, stuff like that. I'm not saying our Sentinels are bad, but I'm pretty sure we don't have fifteen that understand all of those things well enough to be an Officer - the guidelines can be quite complicated. You know what that means? It means we'd have Lieutenants unfairly giving cP, encouraging rule breaking (whether purposeful or not), hosting trainings terribly, stuff like that. That'd cause at least three problems. We'll look at them separately.
> Problem #1 The first problem impacts WIJ's lower ranks. Basically, it'd tick off the lower ranks quite a bit, pushing WIJians to either leave WIJ or just stop caring about the rules. Alternatively, they could just not even know the rules anymore.
Bottom line, it'd corrupt the lower ranks and cause them to leave.
> Problem #2 And now we look at the Officers. Not the theoretical new ones, but the ones that actually earned the rank. Imagine climbing a rock wall to get a penny. You do it, get the penny, and it's a good day. Then, though, the fat kid shows up, gets a foot high, and falls off. He then gets a penny. That's pretty much what the other Officers would feel like if this happened.
Bottom line for this one is that Officers would feel as if they were treated unfairly and leave.
> Problem #3 Lastly, this problem lies within the HICOM. Having such terrible Officers would probably lead to Colonels resigning. I mean, if fifteen Sentinels get through to Lieutenant and don't deserve it, even though it was probably their choice for the most part, they wouldn't really be happy.
And to finish us off, this bottom line is that we'd lose some HICOM.
> Conclusion It'd be an absolutely terrible idea that, ultimately, would create more problems than it solves.
However, there are other things you could do. Corus, for example, is consistently doing things. Artists are currently supposed to make the commissions for the Mainframe. Writers are writing the lore and some stories. And, of course, the Journalists are writing these newsletters.

[0.6] War Argumentative > Should WIJ go to war? Lots of WIJians, and even non-WIJians, say that we should go to war. Should we, though? Let's consider the following scenarios, and then we'll wrap it up with a nice little conclusion.
> War with a powerclan This would turn out really weirdly. In order for us to be able to correctly gauge who wins, we'd require a final battle. Nobody likes final battles, I reckon, and in reality it still wouldn’t be a good judgement. You see, the problem with a powerclan going against a superclan is that powerclans are designed to have higher skill and less numbers. Superclans, on the other hand, are simply designed to have fun. Of course, there are those groups that only care about numbers, but we'll stick with the former; fun is, in reality, WIJ's goal. Therefore, we'd have two groups with completely different intentions and styles going to war with each other, which would almost certainly result in tedious amounts of drama.
The type that people actually have to deal with, though. In other words, false accusations, flaming, stuff like that. It’d sap all the fun out of war.
> War with a prominent superclan This is a little bit more realistic. I mean, we did, of course, go to war with a few superclans. It was fun for a while, but as it turns out, we can't really find any other good superclans to go to war with. It's less fun going to war with a clan the second time, and a lot of them we really don't even want to go to war with a second time.
> War with a less prominent superclan Now we're talking. As you can gleam from our recent war, HICOM is totally fine with going to war with smaller groups. It's actually more fun, in most cases. Obviously, good, less prominent groups are harder to find. Let's say we got into a war, though. Chances of drama weaken because any immature/drama causing users in the opposing clan could be handled a lot easier. The winner could be determined by raid wins, which is good. It'd also, theoretically, be easier to get into contact with their leader and high ranks - they wouldn't be as busy or hard to reach than the leaders of most prominent groups.
All-in-all, war is something that WIJ definitely should do - provided we find the right opponent. We'd want it to be based entirely off fun, to the point where high ranks in both groups can be totally chill while raiding each other. Think you know a group that has what it takes to go to war with WIJ? PM me, and I’ll check it out. There’s no guarantees that it’d result in war, but there’s a higher chance if we’ve got people showing us some good groups to go to war with.
By the way, remember that short war with Soticule Forces? Paul, the leader of SF, says he fully intends on resuming the war once their activity picks up.

@diligent Firstly, I actually fixed a couple grammar mistakes. Secondly, yes, I meant commendations. My bad. Thirdly, I fail to see how it doesn't make sense. If you're representing WIJ, you're bound by WIJ's rules. If you're not representing WIJ, you can do whatever the heck you want. |
