in the manga mine is still alive with more development than she's had in the anime, and wave and kurome have way more development
but yeah when basically any character starts having character development you're just like "well they're dead next episode." but the most obvious case of this wasn't even in the anime apparently |

Well, to be fair, at least the mangaka understands that characters need development if you want their deaths to be dramatic/shocking, but since he or she only develops the characters that are going to be killed off (With the exception of Tatsumi), it forces us to basically follow the bland characters.

@phoniex
that rule doesn't apply to wildhunt though, he's killed off like 4 of them without any development (including their leader)
though it seems like they were the unimportant ones, only two of them really seem like they actually have any character or importance |

| i don't even know what the anime's doing at this point though, it skipped over quite a bit of stuff and is now going past the manga's current point while including stuff that happened a super long time ago |

I'm pretty sure that killing off Mine was a case of murdering the hypotenuse...

Probably because killing off decent characters tends to leave a bigger impact. Though if you do it too often you're left with only boring pieces of cardboard. |

That is EXACTLY my complaint. They kill off the genuinely developed characters, leaving us with the bland characters.

Well, In the anime at least, it's a case of murdering the hypotenuse.
(Either that, or the anime writers don't want to portray an actual relationship.)
And no, there is no scene of Wave soloing most of Night Raid. Not yet, at least.

Eh? What? Anime writers LOOOVE Relationships!
...
As long as this relationship is incestuous, involves tentacles or ends with the male being stabbed to death then decapitated. |

No, mage, an ACTUAL relationship.
You know, what happens AFTER the Big Damn Kiss and the promise to be together.

Of course they don't. Trying to get people together is a heck of a lot more of an exciting story then watching people try to maintain a relationship. Even Clannad After Stories realized this so they just killed off the female lead. (And then brought her back along with the stupid dead kid in a bloody deus ex machnia of happy sunshine and rainbows, but I've ranted about that enough.)
Western TV does this too. |

"Forget about the things skipped and how it was rushed...."
they really don't skip over anything important except wild hunt going around "forcing themselves" onto everybody, which didn't even build up to anything since the majority of them just die immediately after. the only thing really skipped was ran's character arc, which only lasted like 1 chapter and didn't do much except give him character and make kurome look really creepy
and the way mine and tatsumi get together is pretty sudden, so it's not like the manga even focused on the path to getting into a relationship much. after seryuu dies, mine and tatsumi go scouting together like once or twice and then she just asks him out and he says sure |

when i said wild hunt forcing themselves onto everybody i meant random civilians and children, not actual characters (except for the flamethrower guy's family, which was pretty sad)
in case that lead to any confusion |

wait did the anime show wave beating up the prime minister's son
if not, the anime studio must have something against wave, leaving out all his badass scenes |

@daipon
the most recent episode of the anime ends with mine killing budo and saving tatsumi from his public execution, then mine dies. what's funny though is in the same episode and execution setting they have the scene with esdeath killing susanoo
it's gone past the manga's current point and still has like 2 or 3 more episodes
and they've past wave's badass scenes, so to any anime-only viewer it just looks like wave is just on tatsumi's level, even though wave is stronger than basically all of night raid combined |
