1. How to advance in civil rank and what privileges each rank holds.
There are three civil ranks in the Kingdom Of Wargrave: peasant, commoner, and nobleman. Anyone who first joins the group starts as a peasant, a citizen with very little privilege. By being active, helping out at the group place in a way that a civilian can, or supporting the group in some way, one can advance to the rank of commoner, which is a middle-class citizen. One can gain status as a nobleman if they benefit the Kingdom of Wargrave on a large-scale by purchasing their title as a noble (donations), creating professional graphic art (ads and thumbnails), conducting professional building or scripting, etc. Noblemen are able to enter the King's Hold without special permission. Any nobleman who wants to enter military service is able to petition to the King to become a squire and automatically begin knight training, while anyone of lower civil rank that wants to join the army must start at the bottom as a footman (see the next section for more details).
2. How to join the army.
Anyone who wishes to join the army must send a message to a lord requesting to enter military service. Once the lord receives the message, he will promote the applicant to footman, and the new soldier must purchase the corresponding uniform from the King's inventory. If a nobleman wishes to join the army, he may send a petition to the King to be automatically appointed to the rank of squire and begin knight training. The petition will only be accepted if the nobleman is known to be a contributing member with able intelligence and unbreakable loyalty.
3. Knighthood
Knights are noblemen in military service who have had their status bestowed upon them by the King himself in a formal ceremony. Knights go through a long and rigorous process to obtain this status, which starts when they obtain the rank of squire. A squire is a knight in training that is being mentored by a senior knight. After a long period of time (usually 3 weeks or longer), the knight will determine whether or not his squire is ready to take the Trial of Knighthood. The Trial of Knighthood is a ceremony in which several squires who have finished their training compete for Knighthood. These squires fight in a series of tournaments, demonstrate their knowledge of the kingdom's rules and doctrine, and undergo other difficult tasks. At the end of the trial, the King will determine who is ready to become a knight and who is not. Those who are not ready will remain a squire and begin the training process again. Those who have been chosen for Knighthood will swear an oath of loyalty to the Kingdom of Wargrave and to the King. Any knights will also swear to leave all other groups and loyalties behind in order to serve at his fullest capacity.
4. Lordship
The lords make up some of the most important men in the Kingdom of Wargrave, having full authority over any lower military personnel, being tasked with the management of an important town or fortress, and holding the highest social status except for royalty. Lords are appointed by the King himself, much like knights, but a lord holds far more prestige and authority. When one has been chosen to become a lord, he will renew the vows he made as a knight as well as make further vows to uphold his responsibility as a lord of the realm. Lords are chosen from among the most loyal men in the Kingdom of Wargrave, often from those who have achieved the rank of paladin already and have proven themselves able battle commanders as well as diplomatic and professional individuals.
5. Chain of Command
-The highest authority in the Kingdom of Wargarve is, of course, the King. The King has full authority over anything and everything pertaining to the kingdom including civilians, soldiers, lands, lords and nobles, etc. -The second in command of the King is known as the Hand of the King, who is a prominent lord who has been chosen for his skill as well as his long and loyal service. The Hand of the King has full authority over other lords and military personnel, answering only to the King himself. -Lords are responsible for managing the defense of an important town or fort as well as keeping it in good condition. Any lord is responsible for all the military personnel and civilians in his designated fief. Lords may also command or assist in commanding large-scale military movements and battles. -Some veteran knights are awarded with the title of "paladin", which is distinguished by a large gorget hanging from the neck guards of their plate armor. A paladin serves as a knight captain, often assisting a lord in large-scale military operations by serving as a field commander with a group of knights and other soldiers under his command. -Knights are the noble warriors of the Kingdom of Wargrave, having been awarded their status by the King himself after undergoing and passing the long and rigorous Trial of Knighthood. Knights are a deadly force on the battlefield, but they are also trained to be leaders and may be seen leading a small group of lesser soldiers on the field in the absence of higher ranking commanders. -Squires are knights in training. In order to become a squire, one must have either come from a civil status of nobility or have passed through the other army ranks. Squires are trained by veteran knights and will often accompany their mentors on the battlefield. -Sergeants, formally known as sergeants-at-arms, are senior men-at-arms who have basically the same role but also take on a minor role of authority. Sergeants may be responsible for a small watch shift of footmen and men-at-arms and are responsible for assisting their commanders by directing more inexperienced soldiers on the field. This is the highest rank one can reach without agreeing to put aside all other loyalties aside from the Kingdom of Wargrave and its King. -Footmen and men-at-arms are the soldiers of the army who hold no noble status or command authority, but they are able to advance further in rank through loyal service. These men make up the bulk of the army, and will often make up the garrison of a town or fortress. Footmen have little experience in battle and are considered the lowest of the low in the army, but they are also relied on for their numbers and will most likely see combat before the more experienced soldiers so they may weaken the enemy force. Men-at-arms make up the more experienced and fully trained soldiers, but they still do not have a very high status.
6. Basic Army Rules
-Always be in uniform when on duty. If you are at a Kingdom of Wargrave place, you are on duty. If you are assisting the Kingdom of Wargrave in a raid, you are on duty. If you are at any event or doing anything related to the Kingdom of Wargrave, you ARE on duty and must be in uniform. -No emoticons (faces) may be used at any place related to the group or when on duty. -No silly word shortenings or acronyms may be used such as kk, nvm, lol, rofl, gg. The only acronyms you may use are AFK and BRB. -No body packages or parts of body packages may be worn. You may only use 1.0, also known as "block body". -If you are in line and must go AFK/BRB, inform the commander and step out of line. -If you need to leave the game, ask permission from your commander and wait to be dismissed. -When speaking to the King, address him as "sire" or "Your Highness". Any other member with a rank that is higher than yours is to be addressed as "sir". -If you need to speak when in line, in a formation, or when on guard duty, ask "Permission to speak, (title of commander)?" Do not say things like "PTS" or "can i speak sir", and definitely do not speak without asking at all. -Always follow the orders of your commanders without question. Any disrespect or refusal to recognize a superior's authority will be dealt with severely. -Do not argue with or speak down to other soldiers and civilians. Do your job while setting a proper example. -When in combat, focus on fighting, not degrading the enemy with words. |
