| Eighteen, never been into metal, at most I've liked Wishmaster - Van Cantro and a few other popular ones here and there. |

No.
Stop.
Start him slow and popular.
AC/DC, Metallica, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, etc.
Then he can branch out from there. |

Well, for the first, you should try AC/DC, Metallica, or Megadeth. Maybe even a bit of Dream Theater.

"SLAYER" "opeth" "In flames"
Okay seriously guys, really?
If he's new to metal, listening to heavier bands as these will drive him away. Heavier metal is an acquired taste. |

| I meant new in flames. Where they mostly sing. Also listen to some alt metal, breaking Benjamin, red, bands like that. That's how I got into it. Oh, and listen to bullet for my valentines album fever. |

"excellent, if you could read what OP said, he likes power metal. So I'm giving him power metal." Can Canto is technically a cappella metal. |

yup
but i'm pretty sure everyone had to take a big leap between their first metal bands and bands under extreme metal if they ever became fans of extreme metal |

bodom is actually incredibly accessible but that's another discussion
i get what you're trying to do but a better gateway would be traditional heavy metal and nwobhm, the bands you listed were mostly hard rock |
