Like, ones that are so small that I don't notice them.
I hate wood splinters, but metal splinters? That's gotta be so much worse! :'(

"how the actual hell do those even exist"
I'm at risk of them because of fencing. Since people's sabres get scratched, if I were to run my hand down one of them or get hit by one in the skin I could get a metal splinter.
Today someone cut me (it was a tiny cut), and I got scared...and am kinda scared...

GOD
I got one literally just the other day
the pain wasn't as bad, but when I was pulling it out the sharp edges of the metal just cut more of the skin while coming out
it was HORRIBLE |

| Steel and iron splinters aren't bad because you can use magnets to get them out but non magnetic metal splinters are horrible. |

No, if you get a tiny one your body will just eject it out while healing
worst case scenario with a small one is that your flesh grows around it and everytime you use the finger it cuts away at the flesh, resulting in constant pain
in modern times, it's almost impossible to get infection from anything we sit on our asses and do nothing all day, all the while still getting our nutritional needs; and more |

I actually had a wooden splinter once.
I went to sleep and then I found out it disappeared.
Thank you based Mata Nui. |

A girl at fencing told me this story about her friend who ran her hand down her sabre and got a really tiny metal splinter and an infection...

@Joe
Au contraire, the lack of stimulus means most of us are left with relatively weak immune systems. |

metal splinters reminds me of a friend of mine who was making homemade explosives
they blew up too close to him and sent a piece of shrapnel into his eye
somehow he can still see out of it, but you can see part where it entered his eye at
also SoS, I learned that you like salmon
I LOVE salmon

I would honestly be more worried about splinters in my eye while fencing than on my hand
the chainmail surrounding the face of a fencing hood have relatively big holes for shrapnel to fly into in the event of a sword-splintering
on the other hand, fencing gloves are relatively thick, so you wouldn't really expect someones sword to slide through your hand while in a match (unless they are doing some crazy torso shot that has a low chance of marking you) |

no
imagine getting a splinter
now imagine that instead of wood, it is a piece of metal that is sharp on all sides and cuts your flesh to shreds
you get them from rusty things, split/broken metal, etc. |
