Hi, members of All Things ROBLOX! I posted this topic around 5 - 10 minutes ago, but for unknown reasons it was removed from the forums moments after I posted it (despite not breaking any rules whatsoever!). Assuming that it's for mentioning the name of a video game, I'll try and avert any terms that may conflict with fair use and all that nonsense.
Recently, I finished [sci-fi horror game based on popular sci-fi horror movie quadrilogy] for the third time. The primary antagonist of the game, the [creature whose name begins with an 'X' yet seems to be copyrighted so vigorously that I can't say it], has been given a very clever design choice. The game makes it seem as though the creature is "unscripted", by which I do not mean it has no artificial intelligence but rather an unidentifiable one. I never knew what to expect from the alien, and it seemed to get smarter the more it encountered me.
So, I was just wondering if anyone on ROBLOX has used this design choice on their games. Although I know next to nothing about scripting, it seems that the creature was given an enormous list of actions it could perform, but was not given a set order in which to perform these actions. Rather than being linear, it would use these different actions depending on the scenario and the player's actions. This is a very clever design choice and I think it could be possible to do something similar on ROBLOX. Is there anything like this?
Thanks, RipleyTheSurvivor

That means you shouldn't post it again. The fact that you did can get yourself banned. |

I'm not stupid. I consulted a moderator before rewording/re-posting this and it should be fine without the 'product placement'.

The first thread was removed because it wasn't relevant.
Don't repost if your first thread was removed.
Talking about Unscripted AIs belongs somewhere else. |

You clearly didn't read what I just said. I consulted a moderator before re-posting this, and it's relevant to the "games" that we're allowed to talk about on this forum. Replies are just as important to read before posting yourself, you should know that from being a member for so long.

Do you have proof of a moderator approving your repost?
Anyway,I'm pretty sure a AI bot wouldn't really work without scripts. It wouldn't attack players or move at all, really. Weapons also need scripts. |

That brings back so many memories of corrupt AI cores. HAL-9000, GLaDOS, Christie, Auto, etc. :-P

I could contact you elsewhere with screenshots of my nice private message exchange with the moderator, but due to Decals taking hours to be approved and most off-site links to images being banned, I can't do it on here.

You're missing the point. It's not that it doesn't have scripts, that would make it an inanimate model. :-P Like I said, I'm not a big scripter myself, but from what I know if you're clever enough you can easily program an NPC to perform actions based on what the player does (as opposed to having set, linear actions). |

| But woulden't you need to make a script to make the AI know what the charachter peforms? (not sure) |
