Rather than deforesting the entire globe for paper, we should just switch back to papyrus. Papyrus is a crop. You grow it, cut it into strips, press it together, and it forms paper. This would make paper a crop, like corn or carrots, giving farmers more jobs. Plus, since we'd be growing it, we wouldn't be taking anything away from the environment or damaging it. Look at corn, for example. We don't damage the environment by making corn, because corn doesn't even grow on its own, and even if it did, we don't go around finding random crops of corn. We grow them, then harvest them. We would have paper, yet, we would not have to destroy the environment. |
