Hi! I used to play roblox a LOT when I was 12, and I used to have a tiny bit of Lua knowledge. I'd like to get more serious about this and re-learn this language. Are they any good tutorials I should see besides I think it was "pighead10"? I'd really appreciate it as i'd like to start actually doing things on here other than mess around.
Thanks, Jake

| In my opinion it would be best to master the basics of the regular Lua language (you can learn at lua.org) so you can get a feel for how everything works. Then learn about what roblox added/removed (of course this will be very easy to learn once you learn the basics of Lua) |

You probably don't want to open up an IDE and program Lua. You'll probably get bored and quit. You want to learn about ROBLOX stuff anyway, so there's no need to worry about native Lua.
Anyway, what I did some years ago, were these tutorials (under introduction series): http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Lua_Help
That'll teach you all the basics of Lua (both Rbx and native).
Also, don't just go down one side of the list and then down the next. Start at Script Creation Walkthrough, Flowcharts (now you go down), Basic Math, Strings, Conditional Statements, etc. This was unclear to me when I did them.
And I would read the Flowcharts page but don't worry about it too much. |

| To be honest, wiki is probably your best bet. They have plenty of scripts of multitudes of topics. |

The Roblox wiki does not teach you enough in terms of how things work in Lua. If he goes directly to roblox, he won't understand how to make his own things to start with. He also probably won't learn the core concepts, things like datatypes, scopes, all that other stuff as in depth as they go in the lua website. |

If he knows how to change properties of an object (which will require knowledge of datatypes), and locate an object through a game's hierarchy, then he will be into the beginning stages of scripting on ROBLOX.
The link I posted does just that, as well as teaches loops, tables, and functions. |
