yet the teacher can allow themselves to take up to 7 days to grade said assignments.

Sorry what's this bullcrap? I got done what you wanted in a day but I'm still waiting for you to grade a 20 question homework sheet.

@winter
Yeah but they got the easy part. They get to say what's right and wrong based on what the magical book of answers tells them.
If this is what I got to do, I'd spend all night grading if I had to.

Each class usually has about 20 kids in it. A highschool teacher has at least 5 classes that they teach. Having about 100 homeworks to grade will take a bit longer then you doing 1.

It honestly depends on the teacher. Most teachers are the ones who have multiple papers to grade, like other said, and probably take their time and don't rush. Yet other teachers could have your paper graded and back to you the next day, but that is rare

Doesn't mean they shouldn't put it off.
Seriously I'm still waiting for assignments I handed in 10 days ago to be graded.

If I was a teacher I wouldn't give out HW just because of the amount of stress it causes. I would grade them on how they did in the classroom (I would be a science teacher). That way, even if they're wrong when answering some questions or when doing lab reports, if they're still learning and actively participating and trying their best, they can benefit! :)

Still, I don't think you should be slamming your teacher for not having everyone's homework graded in one night. If you had to look through 100 homeworks, each with 20 questions you would realize how long it would take. For a bit more perspective, that is 2000 questions that your teacher needs to look at.

Yes, there are some teachers who work hard on grading
But the main thing is, we can't keep them waiting but they can keep US waiting?

@Song
I believe the main purpose of school is to learn, not give homework.
I honestly wouldn't expect homework to be done all the time if I was a teacher either, since I myself have trouble getting it done all the time.

@iiMarsh
Preschool is fun isn't it?

@paylay
Maybe 1 day is a bit speedy to grade homework. But 8 days? No, that's simply laziness.

I think that grading depends on the teacher. In my opinion, if you're, say, a math teacher, and you're giving out a test which has 13 problems, and they're word problems, if you are a good teacher, you'll be taking the time to see what your students are doing, not just marking something that's wrong as wrong and give no partial credit at all. That way, not only can the student get more points, but they can also learn from their mistakes and see the correct way to do the math.

Yah, that's why I would not focus on homework or tests, I would focus on if the student was learning. That's more important for life than any old number, and some teachers give A's out like candy, anyways.

"thats not how it works"

Maybe not in a normal classroom, no, but I think that it would be nice. It would encourage active participation.

Nice idea, but very impractical.
