Before I start to write my opinion, I'd like to say that this is, well, MY opinion. If you don't agree, I respect that, just don't post hate comments on here.
So I actually have a few reasons why public education is starting to fail. One of them being the long lost A+, now I understand that some schools still have this, most of them don't. The reason not having this is a problem is because you only got an A+ if you got 100% on something, which means you also got extra credit. This way, it encouraged most students to strive for the A+ and providing an award for this kind of achievement. Another reason why public education is starting to fail is the lack of student creativity in most classes. Basically, the students are told to do one SPECIFIC task without doing anything else. That just ruins the purpose of learning because you can't figure other ways out that might suit you best. It also creates a sense of lack of content or tediousness. Anyway, I hope you agree or take anything in this post into consideration. Thank you for reading. |

The Common Core system is not always at fault, it's mostly the students. You're always going to have your "too-cool-for-school" kids and your "burn-outs". The students are expected to try, and try harder.
Now I do agree that some of the aspects of the Common Core system is not just.
Private schools are also going to have their troubled children.
Public education isn't failing, only students are. |

I'm pretty sure it does not ruin learning. |

Sir, Public education is powered by the city or town. However Private schoolage like Christian schools are not.
I will say this, If anything, students have too much creativity. I've entered an art class in G.7 late only to see my whole class making animal noises. Pathetic. Not once in anobody's life would they ever have to use animal noises. I completely disagree with your point and I wish you good luck.

| I feel like public education is failing because majority of teachers lack passion. And the students. I've noticed the students just care more in general in private school, even the cheaper ones like the one I'm at. Private is much better. |

| take honors+ courses in high school if you want less standardized curricula. about the "long lost a+," i really have no idea what you're talking about. you can still get an a+ grade in my school. anything 97% or higher is an a+. |

Supposedly, C used to be an average grade. Thanks to Common Core Standards, that's more or less a B now.

This thread is just some young girl complaining about her mark and blaming an entire school system for it. Their point is invalid and this thread should not have gotten any replies.

| I can choose what to do sometimes at my public school, right now i could choose to write a text about the subject "nuclear physics", you can choose your sub-subject by your own and i have to write a text of a good picture i can freely choose in art lesson. |

| I have a strong dislike for the current education system, however I certainly do not advocate private education. It's lead students to believe that conformity is intelligence, and like the OP stated it butchers creativity. Even the "art" class at my school gets it wrong. |

| As someone who went to both Private and Public I have to say Private and Public have their strengths and weaknesses. In Private school on Grade 1 I went up to Square root. I am in Grade 7 and this is the first year Square root was actually mentioned in Public School. But I do love Public School. It makes me feel free. |

| It doesn't take a genius to know it's starting to fail. I used to sleep in class, and my teachers had an absolute panic-attack whenever I did... I swear, they acted like it's the end of the world. I think it was more about being disrespected, but even adults should know what to expect from children who stay up late to complete their ship-loads of homework they sent their students home with. |

| Well I was told off for drinking orange juice in a maths lessons today, apparently it has to be water, I am older than 16, no other teachers enforce such a rule except for this one public sector power feminist. What the hell? Sometimes I just can't be bothered with school, not education, but I just don't like the disrespect. The teacher is there to work for you ultimately, everyone pays into education, if they are going to be more of a pain than a help to you then they don't really deserve the job you are paying for indirectly 'you don't pay tax, your parents do' well I do intend on getting a job in the future and I will be paying tax then, to anyone thinking of that comeback. Anyways, I think internet has revolutionised education, tools like Khan Academy, ExamSolutions and other educational tutorials easily found via youtube have basically replaced a lot of the whole of teachers, the only thing they lack is the enforcible discipline. |
